Oh, I see. We're swapping things around because we're ghosts :P

Does that mean no-one was busted last night, then?

Did Slimer get incredibly lucky and roleblock a 'busta, or did the 'bustas decide not to bust?

That is the question.

So no busts means :

1) The GB's forgot and didnt choose to go after anyone
2) Slimer got lucky and hit a GB

2 is more likely so well done Slimer and it would be good for you to go after the same person again tonight.

For the ghosts we've also got to assume that Vigo investigated someone (so could vouch for someone / expose a GB) and that the keymaster / gatekeeper had one go to try and release Mr Stay puff (they may have got lucky and released him already we wont know until tonight).

So did I!

So you better be a lovely ghosty chap or I'm going to look guilty by association.

Because there's no chance that both could be innocent.

I am still not convinced by Kovacs, but I am not going to vote for him first thing, as that is silly. We have no more evidence tonight than we did last night.

I am vaguely confused though. Do we think Slimer could have been lucky enough to hit a GB? It isn't against the realms of possibility. It seems very unlikely that the GB didn't go for someone, but it is possible they didn't, because if they hit a human they miss a night. *Mr wibbleface*

Yes, but aren't their odds of hitting a human only 3 out of 16 (or 2 if you don't include Peck, as he has a Ghost win condition?)?

If that's right - Dana, Louis and Peck - then they're far more likely to hit a ghost.

Yeah, I was just thinking out loud really. As I say, I find it difficult to think why they wouldn't, but it is possible.

Yeah, we have to try and figure out what's gone down.

There are two likely scenarios to my mind:

1) The Ghostbusters were slimed. I hope they're feeling suitably funky.
2) The Ghostbusters are devious little shits and decided not to bust to sow confusion in the spirit world.

I already get the feeling that people here love to complicate this game as much as possible, so with that in mind I think the chances that the GBs decided not to target anyone just to mess with our heads is reasonably significant; but also, I don't think it really needs to figure into our thoughts too much because it doesn't really help them and they can't do it forever, they have to start acting sometime or Vigo will find them out.

Would it be a good idea if Slimer revealed who they roadblocked last night, and we lynch them? That would probably be playing the odds, since I reckon there's at least a 50% chance of them being a GB, compared to the roughly 20% chance of us hitting a "bad guy" at random (and things are still essentially random right now). Or is it too soon for a role reveal?

I'm a noob so just throwing ideas around, not sure which is best really.

But if Slimer revealed who he was, would that not make the GBs aware of slimer..

No way it timed out without them consciously allowing it to. Unless the GBs are ALL somewhat infrequent posters, which is a very remote chance IMO. Now go and wait for us in the baseball stadium.

Completely bad idea if you're a ghost.

1) We lose the advantage of Slimer roleblocking all of the GBs (assuming he's doing that)
2) The GBs then kill Slimer because they know who he is.

I would guess they got roleblocked... would be kind of mad to not go for a kill the first night wouldn't it? If so - Good job Slimer - just don't ruin it by becoming an amusing sidekick in a sequel...

When you put it like that... I thought killing a GB would be valuable, but having Slimer around blocking them is more valuable on reflection (it was probably obvious all along but I'm slow), assuming he commits to just blocking the same person every night... that is effectively killing them, although they will actually need lynching too of course in the end.

I want to vote, someone say something mean to me so I've got a reason to.

found it..

Quote:
3 GhostBusters
Each night, the GhostBusters can use their proton packs to capture the ghost of their choosing. If they happen to target a human, this human will be killed, but the GhostBusters will go into hiding and have no night action the following night.
All of the living GhostBusters work together and can PM each other when they choose. However, being the tight-knit team they are if one is roleblocked, all three are considered to be roleblocked.
Their win condition is GhostBusters.

If one is blocked, they're all blocked.

If Slimer has found the Ghostbusters, then we've only really got the Zuuls to worry about. Although the rules don't specify the action order - if Bust comes before Roleblock then they could still get Slimer by chance.

Eh? I'm missing something here (apart from a physical presence) - what would be the point of having a roleblock function if it doesn't affect the buster's action.

I'd say that's wildly more likely.

I'm just catching up with the thread now and came to this one.

This is such a spectacularly bad idea its either :

A complete newb (possible)
A Ghostbuster trying hard to make the game go their way.

Slimer and Vigo are our two best weapons , slimer if he did manage to hit a GB can stop them doing *anything* for the rest of the game (until we make the fatal mistake and accidently 'lynch' him)

Once slimer is 'known' , he's gone , he cant role block the gb's while they target him so although slimer relvealing himself now would (probably) tell us who a GB is we'd be blind going for the other two.

Given that and a lack of another target at the moment :

My theory - the day timed out without the GBs making a move. Seems unlikely, but the night started later than I'd have expected at this time of year.

I can't see that the GBs forgot/ran out of time, either. I can't see much point in them not busting a ghost as I don't understand what 'messing with our heads' would achieve, so if Slimer picked one of the right guys straight away that's either amazing deduction or fantastic luck :D I hope it was a victory by Slimer as that means that we're set for protection for a while yet, as long as Slimer's identity isn't revealed.

Again, I am a bit befuddled by this so far. I'm going to flit in and out of a few walls and hope that someone says something suspicious, because I couldn't find any reason to vote for anyone last round :(

Eh? I'm missing something here (apart from a physical presence) - what would be the point of having a roleblock function if it doesn't affect the buster's action.

I was thinking that perhaps the action order would be Roleblock -> Bust, except where a Ghostbuster targets Slimer in which case it would be Bust -> Roleblock.

This is a bit silly, in retrospect.

Consequently, if the order is ALWAYS Roleblock -> Bust, then (if Slimer did hit a Buster) a role reveal by Slimer isn't actually that bad an idea, the Busters can't touch him anyway and as long as the known Buster is kept alive then Slimer would be protected (we would know who he was so wouldn't lynch him) and if he told us the known Buster we would prevent them being lynched too.

I don't expect to be believed, but I was really just carried away by the chance of lynching one of the GBs to make up for our failure on day 1 and didn't think it through properly. Looking back, my suggestion was pretty terrible.

I forgot to add in here that this only works if Slimer targets the same person every night.

Of course, there's still the chance that the Busters deliberately didn't bust anyone to make us think that Slimer was successful. So Slimer - don't out yourself yet until we've figured out whether your roleblock worked.

I'd be very surprised if the roleblock didn't have priority. It always has before.

Clarification:

Roleblock
Bust
SK
Investigate
