'Twas about a week before Christmas, and all throughout BeeX,
Not a creature was stirring, not even...uh....fuck it.

A thick carpet of snow lines the streets of Royal BeeX City, and the cries of excited children fill the air. It will soon be Christmas! The children know it's not all plain sailing from here to getting their presents though - this year, as in previous years, the wicked goblins will be around, hoping to ruin the kiddies' Christmas and leave them grounded and with just a lump of coal in a stocking.

Can you protect yourselves from the wicked goblins, kiddies, and reap your consumerist reward?

[playerlist]
Kalmarzipan
Spinglo All The Way!
Goddess Jasmince Pie
Merry ChristRuss
Clausiosity
Baubleyaro
JingleBellRock
Rudolfowa
Gazchap
Runcle Scrooge
HoHoHoans
Myoptinsel
Mr Christmas
ComicalGerald
Zaphod79
Shinta Claus
[/playerlist]

With 16 players in the game, 9 votes are required to sign a child onto the naughty list.
Day one deadline is 10pm Tuesday*

*Extended because we have some players at the Cardiff meet - they are likely to be quiet for much of day one.

So, roleclaim already and then some tit for tat voting? Sounds like Grinchy goblin diversionary tactics to me. I've got my eye on you both.

[vote:Zaphod79] for having a suspiciously non-Xmas based name. Very Grinch-esque.

In completely non-game related news, I'm working on a Gerald xmas comic.

Yay Gerald, I say - can it be a bumper extended length one? And the comic?

I've made my list and was about to check it a couple of times when I realised that wasn't my job. Instead I will wander around until I can find a couple of snowballs to push together to make a snowman. Making sure I avoid pesky trees, obviously, because they will make the snowballs dissolve on contact.

Hello, fellow festive Beex types! It's been ages since I've played one of these games, is the prevailing school of thought still to lynch someone at random on Day 1?

We've got 9-14 good guys and 3-6 baddies. The odds aren't great, but what else do we do?

2-3 Super Junior Investigators
6-10 Good Children

My guess:
1 Santa Claus
1 Grinch
4 Goblins
2 Super Junior Investigators
8 Good Children

So is it best to have no naughtifying today, and try to let the super investigators do their thang?

The investigators aren't much good unless they pick the same person as the Grinch does. They're a 'doctor' of sorts. Instead it is Santa that needs to sort from naughty or nice.

I say we push a run on someone and see what they say.

Well, I think we should pick someone as we need info, it's not really until day 2 or 3 that we'll know anything anyway (unless we get lucky)

As there are 3 up at the moment, I'm going to go for (tosses a coin) [vote:ComicalGerald]

Kalmarzipan-4 heads
Spinglo All The Way!-2
Goddess Jasmince Pie-1
Merry ChristRuss-1
Clausiosity-1
Baubleyaro-1
JingleBellRock-3
Rudolfowa-0
Gazchap-2
Runcle Scrooge-3
HoHoHoans-2
Myoptinsel-3
Mr Christmas-2
ComicalGerald-4
Zaphod79-1
Shinta Claus-3

So the results would suggest comical or kalmar are the baddies, there was no 5 heads which is normally/scarily accurate so its quite a mixed bag really. Rodafowas no heads should bring up suspcion but I think that usually means a good guy role.

Ive just done another coin toss to see if anyone got 5 heads and JBR came out with 5 heads. So hes currently my number 1 suspect although Im not sure how accurate a second coin toss is.

I think we really must lynch comical on the first day one of these games, so

Looks like a neat set-up between Runcle Scrooge and Clausiosity, JingleBells.

So two questions :
myoptinsel wrote:

Why would the goblins raiload on day 1 ? (although you speaking up for someone being possibly pushed means that if CG is a goblin you look dodgy because you've spoken up for him)

Clausiosity wrote:

What would you expect to happen ?

They can role claim a good person (so what)
They can role claim santa (if your good and thats true then thats the game handed to the baddies - if your good and its a false claim you *dont* want Santa counterclaiming so thats still bad news).

Or they claim to be an investigator role - so what - would you actually *not* push them over the edge just because they said they could help ?

I cant see what good it does pushing for someone to go unless you actually expect someone to go - and then you look back and see who voted for who and when (and actually you need a few of them to happen for you possibly to spot some type of pattern ?)

Which is what I said. You need at least 2 or 3 days worth of plotting to see who is naughty or nice, unless you get really lucky.

Whoa whoa whoa, what's going on here? It's starting to look like a goblin railroad. [Vote:Unvote] until more people have had their say.

Why would the goblins raiload on day 1 ?

Why wouldn't they? Early win potential. Nobody else knows what's going on at this stage so it would be easy for them to get a bandwagon going.

As for pointing fingers afterwards, remember that it's never just the band-wagon starters who are in the voting tally for the victim at the end of the day, bad guys rarely get suspicion cast on them for what can (at this stage) be made out to be an innocent mistake.

Heh, I wouldn't rule it out. I'm not convinced the role choosing method is very random :)

For reference, my role choosing is 100% random - sorting by a column of random numbers in excel.

I'm sure it is, but it's been mentioned in the past that it's tempting to run the random number generation repeatedly until it comes up with a set of role-name matches that the operator likes :)

Vote update pls?

I was just bored, so wanted to vote for someone and get the game moving.

Maybe we should do what we always say we should do but never actually do, and vote for people who haven't said anything?
