Welcome to Awesomeville, a town filled with awesome people and awesome things. For many years this town has been the pinacle of everything that is seriously cool about the world. Fine, smoke-free bars, cinemas with large comfortable seats, and supermarkets that sell nothing but marshmellows covered in chocolate. Awesomeville is awesome.

At least, it was, until one ill-fated day when the town awoke to find many people missing. Not dead, mind you, just missing. The strangeness of this fact was only made stranger by those who found themselves left behind.

The local mafia find themselves cut down to a mere handful of members. The cult leader, bereft of his followers is now without power or influence. The deadly serial killer, who sees these dire cirsumstances as the perfect opportunity to make himself a murderous legend. One way or another, these people want this town and they'll do and say anything to get it.

Who will stop them?

A man who is above the law, the Vigilante, armed only with a gun loaded with his suspicion. The Doctor, with the power to protect but not knowing who best to keep safe. A Suicide Bomber, with an explosive personality and an even more explosive jacket full of C4. The Mime Artist, who can help the town by mimicing the skills of others. The Governor, the voice of reason, the man with the power to grant clemency at the moment of death. These, and a group of other innocent townsfolk are all that stands between them and certain destruction at the hands of evil-doers.

This town is awesome, but will it fall? Time will tell.

All characters have been referred to as male for the ease of writing. I can't stand talking in entirely in pronouns. As such you should not infer anything about the identity of any characters from anything I write either today or the rest of the game. :)

I feel so naked and alone without my list of players and roles. I think I'll find a corner to hide in and poke anyone who comes near with a sharp stick.

After the last two games, you can't help but think that Comical has written himself into some secret role that means he's still going to win. We should probably just vote to lynch him anyway, just in case.

Yeah, I just seen a cowboy dog in the saloon, looking for the man who shot his paw.

Just looking at the roles, there are 5 mafia types. If the fence sitter moves to them, they will have 6 members!

Scary!

Comical killed everyone as part of a cult, and then became God.

I don't want to influence the fence sitter, but I would imagine they would become either Mafia or Cult (does he/she have that choice?), simply because it gives them someone to talk to. As such, we can safely assume that us townies are one more person down than the first numbers indicate.

I agree with Curio: there's no benefit for the fence-sitter to become town; the only benefit is for the town. I can't see it happening.

Common sense would indicate that they are unlikely to choose allegiance until a few days in, when they can see if we continue with our usual behaviour of stringing up our own or not.

Although switching mafia early would eliminate the chance of being mafia night killed, I guess.

yeah, I can't see why they would want to stay as a townie, as they don't gain any information that way, and let's face it, they towns record isn't great is it?

Worth reminding the fence sitting, whomever they are, that they have no special power apart from the ability to pick a side. This means they don't have a killing role if they join the mafia, and become a simple plebby cultist if they go cult. Similarly, if they go town they're just a plain vanilla townie. It'll all be down to the mentality of that individual. :hat:

The Fence Sitter has to choose which side to go on during the first day.

They have to make a choice on either the first day or during the first night phase.

It is the cult I fear the most. Or the Mafia. Or the Serial Killer. Or townies stringing everyone up.

I think we've learned from past games that rushing can be a bad idea - but remember that it worked in the cult's favour when the town failed to reach a lynch in the last game, too.

Do you think that we should take it steady today and not lynch anyone unless they appear really suspicious? We've not exactly had a proven track record in this regard.

Correct vote format for this game, as in previous games is (Square Bracket)vote:Name(Square Bracket). Probably should have mentioned that earlier.

I can't be arsed to correct incorrectly formatted votes, so any like that won't count.

Changed Vote post - otherwise it'll be counted as a vote for 'name', which will probably hugely fuck shit up.

But nobody's suspicious on the first day, it's like we're all in the same boat or pretending to be, whatya going to base a suspicion on, it's usually the quiet ones anyway. Or the talkative ones!

If we did that though, we'd never lynch anyone. It'd be more beneficial to lynch those who are very, very qwiet; they are not hunting wabbits...

Better?

We have to start the ball rolling I think, and the first days vote is pretty much a stab in the dark.

The only way we can start getting information as to who's who is to make with the lynching, though. OK, so we're probably getting wrong information, but it's a start.

Besides which -five mafia, the cultist, the serial killer and the fence-sitter (who, as folks have already said, is more likely to become an enemy than a friend). Even if we're just lynching a completely random bod, that's a 40% chance we'll hit someone who needs hitting.
