Looking at it from an objective point of view, it would be an incredibly odd move if I was lying. The town is doing a good enough job of lynching it's own members, so the best I can hope for if I'm lying is 1 townie for one, I dunno, evil alien, as I'll be lynched tomorrow if I were. If I knew of any power townie roles, they'd have died last night.

I wouldn't be able to be contacted by the BA if I were.

If he was, I'd assume (again, subject to clarification from Curio) that he would cease to be a simple townie and therefore wouldn't have received info from the Benevolent Alien.

True, but it still remains that the baddies have no investigative roles, so they won't know for definite that Morte is one thing or another, and so there's no reason for one of them to expose themselves to insta-death from the other baddy faciton by roleclaiming in this way.

I'd like to string this out in case one of my other alien chums can come up with a plan to save Morte, you mean?

You're right, it does. The other option, of course, is that the BA told Grim... about someone on night 1 or 2, and then Grim... was recruited into the Mafia.

Occam's razor says that Grim... is telling the truth. A lot of the theories I've read on this and the previous page seem highly implausible.

Yep. I'm now a bit suss of the people who said the mafia don't have a hitman. They either forgot the SK was dead (unlikely), don't know the rules (more likely) or are mafia and are trying to almost make everyone think they are impotent. That's dangerous thinking, really.
