You got yourself lynched by your own actions.

That might be so, for the first 3 pages
after that I have told you my role.
You wanna hang a cop, do it, you are on the way to losing the main investigatory role.
* slow hand clap *

Sadly, you are claiming to have a role that can't be substantiated.

did you just miss the part where I posted a printscreen of my PC?

I chose to ignore it.

Still no point now pretending I didn't see it.

I voted for LS based purely on his attitude, nothing to do with his character. I don't appreciate playing a game where a player is offensive to all the other players for no good reason.

And yes, my first assumption when I read the above post from CG was that they are in cahoots! :P

Quickly russles up a photoshop of a PM saying "I like little boys"

But yeah, I'd agree totally - part of the game is choosing whether or not to believe roleclaims - there should be no 'absolute' proof of something, as a screenshot would imply.

Modkill Request: Lacesensor

Forum-wide Rulechange Request: Quoting Mod PMs is punishable by modkill and Screencapping is punishable by a ban from playing in at least the next game.

PM quoting proves who your character is, and proof is not the same as trying to convince someone of your role through the power of logic and evidence. If near-certain proof is allowed then the entire concept of the game changes, and all the things that make the game interesting don't matter any more. Perhaps more importantly, if this isn't strictly enforced there's nothing to stop everyone posting their PMs and causing anyone who isn't town to auto-lose. This is a very serious issue, and it is strongly enforced on all large mafia sites I am aware of.

Not modkilling LS is worse than modkilling him, as an aside, because his role effectively changes to "confirmed townie", and that changes the game far more than just taking him out now would in terms of game balance.

Oddly, I was about to vote for LS, and that would have tipped it over the edge! TBH, much as I don't like the roleclaim, it doesn't benefit the town to lynch him out of spite.

Im not aware of any large mafia sites. I was introduced to the game here, and its never been in the rules really. I said sorry already so theres nothing else I can.

Aside: Hows the air up there?

Yep, however Grim... has previously quoted a PM from Craster in an earlier game and there was no such death threat then, perhaps a bit of grumbling but no clarity on the rules afaik.

Obviously something that needs to be clarified, you can only really punish someone for breaking a rule if they're aware of that rule to start with.

Indeed - I did however say that I would neither confirm or deny that it was a real PM, as just putting it in a post is eminently fakeable (and indeed, he did change part of it).

I agree that there's no value in getting rid of LS as a punishment at this point - I worry about whether having his role incontravertably revealed is damaging to the balance of the game though.

They're both optional roles, but if either the Mafia Investigator or The Penguin are in the game, they have investigative roles of sorts.

They're probably not going to want to share their findings with us though!

Well it certainly changes the game and it is outside data.

I changed my vote based on it and he's hardly likely to get lynched now is he?

Happy for a mod kill or to continue on regardless, it's Rev Owen's game so it's up to him.

What CG said.

Also [vote:unvote] for now, there is still the possiblity it had been tampered with, if CG and LS are in cahoots, CG could have done it for him...

Not really, it just makes him a prime target for any of the game's bad guys. He might have been targetted anyway. With 25 players I don't think it makes a difference.

Can we get a list of "things to not do" up on the Mafia board, Cras? We could have a big discussion thread about it and everything. I think we should probably have standard rules about certain things for this sort of situation. I'm mostly worried because this sort of thing would be really damaging to BlindScum and I'm selfish.

Not significantly. Both are fakable and otherwise presented as 'unfakable' evidence. Again, there has been no clarity on whether or not this was allowed, and my initial thought was that, since it can be faked, who cares, it's just a more complicated way of asserting you're a certain role.

But it's your game, all you need to do is clarify the rule once and it won't happen again. Simple.

I don't actually agree with this. The only real differance is that one favours someone with good ghostwriting skills and one favours someone with good photoshop skills, neither of which should be a factor in the game.

Yep, I'll do that. Rev, do you want me to wait until this game is over, to avoid any confusion while we're playing? I think it might be best if you stamp your authoritative foot on this game and then we can discuss rules in the hiatus between this game and the next.

It's still bollocks though because it's using data from outside the game to prove innocence.

We might as well draw a line under it though.

It's hard enough trying to trawl through the thread looking for information without it getting cluttered up with debates on what is/isn't allowed.

I thought the meta data rule covered this sort of thing quite adequately. Obviously I was wrong.

I'm letting it go just this once, though it's fucked up the game good and proper.

To make myself feel a bit better I am adding a new win condition for all those with kill actions, including the town.

Quote:
Bounty Hunter - You get a bonus win for killing LaceSensor, worth half a normal win condition. Priority will go to the first PM received if he is killed during a night phase.

(I think I'm joking. I'm not entirely sure, though.)

Vote Update

comicalgnomes: 4 votes (dudley, lacesensor, sheepeh, spinglo sponglo!)
grim...: 1 vote (zardoz)
lacesensor: 8 votes (craster, grim..., mr dave, myoptika, pundabaya, runcle, tsumuch, vegetables)
mr russ: 1 vote (rodafowa)

Not voted: bobbyaro, comicalgnomes, craig, curiosity, dimrill, goddess jasmine, kevr, mimi, mr russ, plissken, richardgaywood

With 25 players alive, 13 votes are required for a lynch and 19 votes for there to be no lynch.
