"Corporal Deitrich. Non communicable Colony Doctor. 1 per night phase, PM name of player to protect from FaceHugger actions. Win Condition Marines."

I did have to check though..

Amusingly if you do a search for Deitrich, the only posts mentioning the name were made by SDG :)

It's not Dave, I know that!
I'm pretty sure Morte is Rebecca/newt from his unsubtle hints of the first 2 days...
& DavPaz I think is a DAC...
Which all makes me think Joans is the last one.

That's how I figured you for company - you kept referring to company, calling people company men etc., whereas the DACs suspected people of being aliens
(the company was only a minor threat, unless you were company, in which case you viewed the game as company v everyone, so pretending to be in the 'everyone' camp made you act like the company was the big threat)

;)

Well that was quick. Did zaphod79 spot and deliberately ignore Morte's roleclaim on day 1?

I think too many people just don't like the responsibility and inevitable scrutiny that comes from speaking out and voicing theories and so they disassociate themselves from anyone who does.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Openly discussing things can mark you out as a useful good-guy, and make you a target.

And yes, in this game especially I thought the town was quiet, knowing there were three factions communicating in secret around them just makes everyone paranoid I think.

Quote:
If I had still been alive today, I would have done my usual and pleaded with everyone not to vote until we had looked at voting patterns again and reread a couple of things from the perspective of knowing a lot more characters now.

The problem at this stage is that the badguys have the advantage in getting a vote swing, unless there is suspicion against one of them.

Dave is claiming he's a DAC who is playing to survive, rather than hurt the Aliens.

Your predictions were Zaphod and DavPaz for Alien - and they are the other two lynchers today. So you could well be right (well, one of them at least, as there's probably only one alien).

Morte almost certainly is Newt, I reckon.

Nah, all it says is "survive to the end". Singular. I think it would be really unfair to penalise anyone for sneaky/selfish play, given that is the wording.

Gnnn! Joans is so obviously the alien - hidey hidey hidey!
So, tomorrow we have Joans & 2 others, last chance for the colony.
& as soon as either surviving DAC votes for the other one, joans pops in & its game over :o

I can't believe the idiots just lynched Newt, despite Morte having roleclaimed it several times.

Also the fact that when I mentioned who I would say the bad guys were which I attempted to discuss a few times, i never once mentioned Mr Dom, Curio or Morte and I was right about the first two so why didnt they look back for hints?!

I think Zaphod deliberately ignored Morte's 'roleclaim' - he's usually very good at spotting comments. I flag him for the bad guy, not Joans.

Would the other alien have matured into a queen last night and hugged someone? Or am I getting my time lines mixed up?

One more night for that. And it would all be over if that were true. There's one alien in there, and two good guys.

Ignore my last, I forgot the huggee took a day to mature, and wouldn't know who the alien is.

Yeah, I knew pretty much nothing. It became clear sometime during day 1 that I wasn't really going to have much time to pay attention (very little, in fact), so I went for a pure survive-on-no-information strategy and barely read any posts, rather than the more methodical approach I'd usually take. However, I'd decided that if we got to a position where one kill could win the game to break out of that strategy. (Or in cases where one kill could lose, to not fake vote davpaz instead

I vaguely remembered someone making a reference to teddys or toys or sometime, but couldn't remember who, so did a search, and found comments by Mr Dom(?) and DavPaz. Then noticed the reference was far too late from DavPaz so, I decided to do a search for all posts by Morte in the mafiascum, spotted it was dollies, but it was just a bit too late.

The thing is - as soon as either DAC votes for the other, the last alien votes & its game over..
Argh - the tension!

It livened the game up anyway. Your list(s) were complete random nonsense, right?

Funnily enough, no. My list was simply people I was predisposed to suspect. It's an interesting case of psychology. You know if you put them, people are going to read things into them. (See: People reading things into random coins) So if you're a bad guy, on the first day, what do you put? I know it's something I would not like to do if I was on the bad guy side. Because even randomly chosen, it could potentially get your side into a little trouble.

That's why I really dislike the coins. If Runcle's a good guy, he's putting random names into people's heads based on nothing at all. If he's a bad guy, it's a carefully crafted list of suspicion.

Sure, but not based on any pattern or knowledge, or anything you'd spotted, right?

I think I figured that's what you were up, in the end... Especially as I knew who quite a few people were, and I think you had only one badguy in the list (me) :)

To Craster:

Which is why I'd only really pay much attention to a list if it had some external method of corroboration. Say, if Runcle died. Or there was a pattern in his list which matched existing dead people.

It's an idea which occurred to me while playing the ghostscum game, and I was waiting for a more opportune game to use it (One without a selfish win condition, to start off with) but it seemed quite likely that this would be my last game at about that time, so I went with it without it being the correct fit.
It, however, wasn't completely useless this game.

I found it fun to play. I quite liked not having to be a team player, and trying to appear *ahem* unusual.

I'm sure DavPaxz loved my style, too.
