I would like to go on the "run a game" list, please.
My game will be as follows:

Awesome, two mafia families, that'd spice things up.

That's correct, and not the only reason why anyone who sees the rules can't be allowed in. You will see what I mean when the game is over.

OK, now, I really want to know.

I haven't finished the design yet, so I couldn't tell you all that much regardless. But there will certainly be twists and surprises!

I just think the more complicated games require more complex narration. It'll be OK.

The plot is a challenge if you're looking to make it interesting for people. If there ever is a next time for me running a game, some thought needs to be given to somehow giving useful clues or information in some way, something behind just blind chatting. I'm not sure how best to do this, but it might come to me one day between now and then end of the current run of games.

Not at all. Before I thought of having two mafia families in mine I was just going to do 6 mafia and 14 vanilla townies. I think there's a lot to be said for simplicity in a game like this.

Agree with what Grim... said there. If a vanilla game needs running in the mean time to keep up momentum I'll happily help. But by the time I got a turn from the list I'll be working with no net access, so if you want to keep me in mind for an infil 'just in case' that's fine.

It would ace if everyone was just given a list of actions that they might be able to perform. Then everyone would probably try to kill on the first night, and would work out what role they were from whether their action was successful or not.

Unfortunately the guy running it, while having put loads of effort into the prep, is taking several days to do each update, and the pace just isn't there.

After a lot of thought, I've decided that maybe we're not ready for the GothamScum ruleset with Arkham Asylum in it, so I've made a new ruleset that's basically just a skinned mafia vs. town game without anything too peculiar.

I've kept the rules with Arkham in though, in case I ever get to run a second game.

Thoughts anyone?

Why not just duck out this time and refine your rules until you're ready? I was super-interested in the Arkham version.

I think the Arkham version is ready and I'm ready to play it. I think it's balanced and works. I spent a lot of time getting it right. (It's hard to tell beforehand if a game will work, but I think it does.)

It's just that people seem to struggle with complicated rules, so I thought they might not want something with that added wrinkle. I'd be more than happy to play to the Arkham version is people want it, though. I'm just worried people will look at it, think it's too complicated and refuse to play.

My wife also thought dropping Arkham was a bad idea.

Hmmmm.....

Tell you what - when VampireScum is over I'll ask for players for a game using the Arkham ruleset. If I don't get twenty I'll drop out for a round or two and let Craster do his next name, then come back later.

How's that sound?
