You lost when Kovacs voted on Day Five, I think. Mr Dave's maths up the thread is correct.

Had we not lost before I voted, as the AI had left folks behind when they left?

Nope. They were neither dead nor escaped, so the outcome was still uncertain.

They were Schroedinger Innocents!

Hadn't you better do some win condition writing? I've done all the role descriptions.

Incidentally, a technical query: How did you get the name swap working. I had a couple of attempts at subverting the system (even though I knew who was who)

I tried linking the counter to an old game, like alien scum, and the substituted names appeared there, but not on the right people.

For instance http://www.beexcellenttoeachother.com/counter/?t=3491 shows both Zardoz and Benny playing, despite Zardoz having been Benny.

I did it by hand, using the forum's templating systems 'if' statement.
Code:
<!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Grim..." -->Administrator<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Doctor Glyndwr" -->Administrator<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "kalmar" -->Thomas<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "GazChap" -->Elina<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "markh" -->Simon<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "myp" -->Vicky<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "MaliA" -->Mark<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Runcle" -->Claire<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Malc" -->Rufus<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "zaphod79" -->Holly<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Bobbyaro" -->Peter<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Curiosity" -->Phil<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Zardoz" -->Benny<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Goddess Jasmine" -->Dave<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Joans" -->Bill<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Bluecup" -->Paul<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "End of an Era" -->Richard<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "KovacsC" -->Chris<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "superdupergill" -->George<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Craster" -->Caroline<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Mr Dom" -->Francis<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "The Rev Owen" -->Matt<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "TheAlbin0Kid" -->Luke<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "Mr Chris" -->Liz<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR eq "The Egg" -->Norman<!-- ENDIF -->

Normally you'd just output postrow.POST_AUTHOR directly to the screen.

The counter switched the names in a similar way (ie. x = y) but used a switch.

The easiest way to game the system was to simply use Bill rather than Ted.

I'm just a consultant here, providing vision and steering our Scum game away from the rocks when you accidentally steer it there... I'm not expected to do any actual hard graft, surely?

Seriously though, that was really good, I'm pretty gutted that I got tangled up in RL stuff, I suppose that's what happens when you no longer spend all day at a PC.

I really hope you do run it again sometime in the new year, it was fab. :)

Are we having Christmas Scum again?

I'm not sure we could run it again now the rules are public. A lot of the impact relied on people going in blind.

I didn't realise this one had a dead thread. Hmph. I laughed my head off every time some panicky mental voted for the sheer naked thrill of voting. It was only when the first protege died that I even thought there were any non-innocents in there. Bonus points for the hacker being there to make everyone think they were actually in danger if they didn't vote

Great work, chaps. That was a reet laugh to read.

Great stuff, and I'm sorry I couldn't post a bit more, but it was just one of those weeks really.
Typically, (and as I said to the Doc in my PM) once I actually posted a bit at the end, I got voted for.

Did I just fork up this game for everyone? Whoops.

:boots: :boots: :boots: :boots: :boots:

Anyway, I had no idea of the rules or how to play. Every time I read anything it was about boobs or some disturbing murder. Oh, and people going {vote: blahblah}. Also I kept getting some message about "night actions" pm'd to me. I was tempted to reply, "None of your F'ing business", but couldn't be arsed.

An odd experience. Richard FTW!
