Now that we all suddenly read Reddit, did everyone see this tech demo? I read it on reddit. And now you see it on Beeicks. Beex. No, you sees it on Beeee-ex. I suppose it depends how you pronounce BeeX. Ok, see it Next on BeeX. Yeah, that'll do.

Anyway, that tech demo that's not a game, here it is.

Looks pretty awesome, yaa?

People can apparently download it if they have a peeceeeee. I don't. Unless someone wants to give me one. Kaitnx.

Can't watch all of that as I'm at work, but that looks really good.

It would infuriate me though, and I'd be looking up a guide pretty quick with so many possible solutions or ways to manipulate things.

Posting a topic that says, "Portal 3!" and then isn't anything to do with Portal 3 should be a fucking hanging offence.

This is the real genius of the actual Portal games; the way they introduce new mechanics and then lay out the levels gives you enough of a hint in what to do so you're rarely completely stuck while still giving you enough concepts to juggle that there's a challenge. They used a shitload of observed-playtesting so they could tweak the level design to help/hinder the player appropriately and the lack of resources to do that level of polishing is what stops stuff like Quantum Conundrum making such a good game out of a similarly fertile core concept.

For fans of Portal, 12-hour fan-made campaign being released on Greenlight. Looks like it might be ok. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015- ... a-portal-3

I will play this.

I do not like the colours in the title though. What were they thinking...

MOAR PORTAL!

And, um, LEGO?

But it's a game? A LEGO Portal game? Or not.

Here's an amusing trailer for you to say, "waaaaaaahhhhht" at. Homer Simpson is in it. And Batman. I haven't a sodding clue what this is actually about.

It looks like you have to collect "players" like Spyro and Disney Infinity et all.

LEGO Dimensions is only of interest to me in that it has massive implications for the Donkey Kong Extended Universe.

It's one of those things where you have to buy plastic figures to play the game so it can fuck off, even with Portal content.

I honestly can't tell if this is a joke or not.

I never joke about the DKEU.

Portal is canonically part of the same universe as Donkey Kong, as are most videogames.

Portal and all of Valve's games share the same universe (there are many clues pointing to this littered throughout their games). There was Resident Evil 6/Left 4 Dead crossover DLC, meaning Resident Evil is in the same universe as the Valve games. Jill Valentine from Resident Evil is in Marvel vs Capcom, along with Megaman. Megaman was in the latest Smash Bros, along with Donkey Kong.

Pretty much any game you care to name can be tied back to Donkey Kong.

Those are easy.

FIFA 15 includes a bunch of players who are also in the Football manager games. The mascot from the football manager games (The manager) is in Sega & Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed. As is Sonic, who is in Smash Bros Brawl, with Donkey Kong.

The Tetris DS includes a Metroid mode. Samus from Metroid is in all the Smash Bros games, with Donkey Kong.

I cba explaining all the connections, but Halo, Assasins Creed, Uncharted, Doom, Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, and seriously most other video games can be traced back to Donkey Kong.

I was very sceptical of this but Smash Brothers, Playstation All Stars and Soul Caliber account for a lot of connections.

This is like the St Elsewhere theory but for games.

Wasn't that essay written specifically to show that it's silly to worry about shared continuity and to just enjoy each series on its own merit, though?

Meh. I think these overarching meta-continuities are kinda fun, though.

Oh, me too. The sillier the better (eg all Pixar movies being set in the same universe).

As you can (quite easily) link St Elsewhere to Donkey Kong...

Not Portal 3 content!

At 1.50 mins in this video was the opening to a game that might have been Portal 2. Ultimately it was put on the back burner somewhere but I watched that opening and thought it was an absolutely brilliant opener. The rest of the video is pretty good too, mind. There's an alternative opening for Portal 2 too when you're being sucked through some tubes. It's not as good as the actual opening sequence but still pretty interesting nonetheless.

Or was it this video?

Christ I can't remember.

This one is pretty good as well and really shows how many interactions the game went through.

Bumping a Portal thread for anything short of an actual new Portal game should be a banning offence. Especially when someone else has already done it earlier that same day.
