My dad doesn't like cheese. That's bad enough, but he would also rather eat cake when it's stale.

I didn't like cheese for my whole life, until...last October! Just realised this is my one year cheese anniversary! :luv:

Cheese totally rocks! It's getting to that red wine, onion jam, light the fire time of year - get the Stilton & co out :)

I love all foods, including all manner of exotic shellfish, seafood, crustaceans & the like. I don't think I could handle insects, grubs and that kind of caper though. Never tried frogs legs, snails or anything reptilian.

I meant "have you tried crocodile?". That's quite a common one, I thought.

I've seen alligator in several places ( which I imagine is much like croc ) - Walkabout have it, and that's hardly some obscure foodie gastro-whatnot. I've had snail, but it just tasted like garlicy chewyness really.

I tried conch in the Bahamas, which is basically what lives in one of these:

It wasn't very nice.

Meh, shows what little I know; I had no idea crocodile was a widely available delicacy. (fuck me I have become such a clueless old bumpkin, I need to get back to the smoke)

Can't say I fancy it though; just something about eating reptilian flesh really grosses me out for some reason

What was conch like Grim...? I imagine large and chewy lol

I don't eat cheese either, although I can just about manage a little bit of mozzarella/parmesan when sprinkled over a spag bol.

I think they farm gators commercially in the US ( although I get the skin is a large part of that ).

Croc tale : I once went to a crocodile tourist attraction in Tunisia. Some poor sod with a broom got into the croc pit and started cleaning up. When ever a croc was where he wanted to sweep, he'd just kick it until it moved. He was hoofing these 10ft monsters, and they were quietly moving out of the way for him.

When the Thunderbirds episode Attack of the Alligators! used live crocs, they wouldn't do bugger all. They ended up trying to zap them with electricity to make them do anything, because they got sleepy under the studio lights. An RSPCA man was called in by one of the employees who thought the crocs were being ill treated, but all the RSPCA man did was advise them to up the voltage (from 20 to 60, I think) of the shocks because the animals had such thick skin 8)

I love snails the way they serve them here in Catalonia. Before moving here (seven and a half years ago, now, wtf?!?) I'd never tried them.

Urg. Don't google it.

Also, if you're not a fan of shellfish (or even if you are) you should never watch a clam 'licking it's lips'.

(unintentional :hat: )

The ones at australia zoo were pretty docile too, just sitting there doing nothing, apart from at the croc show, then they actually moved and jumped out of the water and stuff.

I went to "Gatorworld" in Florida. While there, we tried some gator meat. It was very tough and not very flavoursome.

I love crocodiles, they fascinate me - a real relic from the Earth's past. They were, of course, around at the time of the dinosaurs. Such primitive creatures; absolutely fearsome and deadly, yet I can't help thinking they're amusing, even cute? Bizarre.

I certainly wouldn't want to eat one.

I had rocky mountain oysters in Wyoming. Just as well I knew beforehand that they aren't shellfish else I wouldn't have touched them. Quite tasty too.

I remember half listening to something on R4 a couple of years back; basically some guy reckoned slugs eggs in his garden were no different than caviar, and proceeded to eat some.... they tried to edit out the sound of the woman who was interviewing him boiking/gagging in the background :spew:

Dirty bastard.

I don't like anything "strong" flavoured, including most cheeses, I like mild cheddar with other stuff in a sandwich or melted on toast but that's about it.

Yeah, but you won't eat bbq sauce because it's too spicy. You're officially weird, Malc.

spicy, hot, whatever.

I do like some strong flavoured things, like marmite, and some spicy crisps, so I think you are correct, I am a lot weird when it comes to food.

My friends used to mock me for eating tesco seafood pizzas. However i cant find a good one anymore anywhere.

Also snails or escargot is a sure thing when ever i see it on a menu. The first time i tried i had to have a whole bottle if wine but now i quite enjoy it sober. And horse meat is the yum.

jam on meat? weird
sprinkles on bread, perfectly reasonable
reserving one day a year for pancakes? ludicrous
etc.

You can certainly get it in a jar from Tesco. And Lucky Charms, too - at an eye-watering £5 a box.

They're still great, though - I got some for my birthday.

Salt is a flavour enhancer, so it should make it taste more chocolatey, or more fries-y.

fries in milkshake, eugh (sorry Mr Kissyfur)
I'm not used to any sort of mixing sweet and savory, so mint sauce and cranberry sauce etc make me shudder. Peanut butter and jelly, eugh. But then someone reminded me peanut butter and chocolate hagelslag was like peanut m&m's and I see the sense in that so I'll make an exception for that one.
