Does anyone here play tennis? I've started playing on the weekend with a colleague at some free courts not far from me. They have three hard courts and two grass courts (which are not in bad shape considering it's free). So far I've been beaten 6-3 6-1 and 6-2 6-1, but I don't think I'm totally out of my depth and have played reasonably well at times. Especially since my colleague used to play for a tennis club when he was a teenager and he's had some coaching too.

My forehand is ok, but my backhand is pretty poor. I've even tried a two-handed backhand, but it's even worse! Any advice from players better than me would be appreciated.

I used to play at school quite a bit, but haven't played in 20 years. Like you, my backhand was awful, but my forehand was ok.
I did find that swapping to a two-handed backhand increased my control a lot, even though it felt completely unnatural at first.

I was a county level badminton player in my youth, but only really played tennis at the cottage.

I'm really bad at games like this where you need to react to what someone else is doing. Badminton, squash, all of them I'm just horrible at.

I'm awful at tennis, but pretty good at badminton. Maybe we should bring a set to the cottage!

Squash was my thing at school, really loved that and would like to get back into it. Not sure if there are courts anywhere nearby though...

Badminton I suck at. Squash I was once awesome at. Tennis...well everyone's seen Grim... and I bring the power to a tennis court.

I played with Mimi at one point.

...

But yes, I think I partnered Malabelm in the tennis.

'Beat' is a pretty liberal interpretation of what happened, but yes it was.

I'll happily play, but I'm not good. I just like running around. And hitting things.

I think Mr Russ and I beat myp and Mr Dave? at the cottage.

I used to be quite good, but not so much any more as I've not really played it much.

I did play my 15 year old son on holiday, and beat him 6-4 6-4 6-3 5-7. I was trying to do as many trick shots as possible though...

I knackered my foot playing baseball last week, so tennis is on hold for a while. :(

My foot has been better so I played quite a bit last week. My friend Greg and I decided to play a five-setter, but we got two sets in before we had to stop due to exhaustion. Each set took an hour!

We then played two more monster sets later in the week, but we're now locked at 2-2. Scores at the moment are 2-6 7-5 6-7 (2-7) 7-5. Final set tonight! We definitely seem evenly matched.

Well done.

Also being in sweden I have never met a loud elk. They all seem silent. Maybe you should change your name to just elk.
