Well that's kind of useful as I've got a backlog growing and now I don't have to add to that.

I'll play the single player campaign because there's usually some dumb popcorn fun to be had with them and I don't think I've played one since Modern Warfare 2.

:this:

I can usually find the time for a six hour, dumb, glossy shooting campaign full of big explosions and whatnot.

Last one I played was Advanced Warfare, and that was good fun. I've got no time for the multiplayer though.

July’s Games brought to you FIRST by me, as always:

Heavy Rain PS4 (Pretty cool. I might run through this again and get people killed off)
Absolver, PS4 (I hear this is pretty good an’ all)
Rayman 3 HD, PS3
Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess, PS3
Space Overlords, PS Vita
Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma, PS Vita

If there's anyone still out there with a Vita except me, this is ace.

Edit -- although you should play Virtue's Last Reward first, probably.

If I didn't need PS+ to play online and all I'd ever played from it was Killing Floor 2, I'd still have had my money's worth.

Also, we've had plenty of great games in 2018: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Bloodborne, Ratchet & Clank, XCOM 2, ...

Bloodborne, Telltale Batman, Beyond: Two Souls and Rayman Legends easily got me my money's worth so far. And Trackmania Turbo's VR mode would've been a worthwhile addition as well if only I wasn't a fucking moron*.

*Or the PS+ system is inherently stupidly designed, depending on your viewpoint.

I'm annoyed about XCom2 for two reasons:
1) The multiplayer version clash issue is ridiculous dogshit
2) XCom2 being free but War of the Chosen being full price means nobody will get WotC. Which is a real shame because the additions to the game are awesome.

Yes, it is. (Although everything I've read said the multiplayer is bad, anyway, which mitigates it a bit.)

Fair. I've often wondered why games companies don't put the DLC on sale when a game hits PS+. Seems to me like you'd pick up some sales from casual players who wouldn't otherwise be interested, but perhaps my intuition is wrong; games publishers must have studied this.

It's a bit of an odd situation where the DLC is an enormous overhaul of the whole game, but it is still the same game.

True, although these sorts of expansions have always been common in strategy games, I guess. Rare for a console game of course.

But even other DLC could benefit. Map packs for FPSs, for example. By definition, anyone coming to your game via PS+ isn't very committed, or they'd already have owned it. They're unlikely to pay full price for add-ons. But maybe they could be coerced with a deal; "oh, well, I'm already getting the game for free, so if I also buy this £15 DLC for £7.50 in the sale, that's a bargain and means I get the whole game" seems to me to be a viable tactic.

Oh I had my moneys worth, loved the Killing Floor 2 sessions and a good few games.

Just not felt the need the need to resub due to seeing either titles I've already played or just dont want to play cropping up since I let it lapse.

dlc sales are rare though anyway... except rocket league..

(waited long time for steep dlc to get discounted, when the full game is discounted almost every month in some sale.. and now with mario and rabbits it would be nice too)

thanks for the vita tip

August’s PlayStation Plus games, once again, brought first and foremost by me, are:

PlayStation 4
Mafia III
Dead by Daylight (like Friday the 23th init)

PlayStation 3
Bound by Flame
Serious Sam 3 BFE

PlayStation Vita
Draw Slasher
Space Hulk

Dead by Daylight is good fun. I'd like to play that again, but Friday 13th always seems the better option.

Mafia 3 was pretty good until they threw in the obligatory "hide from the cops" stealth mission, in a game with limited stealth controls, and added on the common "lets make this a really long mission, and restart from the start each time you fail" fun.

That's the point I turned it off and never turned it back on.

I adored Mafia 2, despite its many flaws, but never even made it through the demo for Mafia 3 because fuck that boat driving bullshit.

Destiny 2 is good fun, haven't seen a single reference or requirement for micro transactions so far.
