FYI - September

Hitman: The Complete First Season - Great if you’ve got the time.
We Were Here - What now?
Earth Defense Force 2025 - Another one of those.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 - I will fist you in the face if you don’t agree that TTT is the best fighting game ever made.

£48.24 Borderlands 3 "cheap smelly" edition for XB1X. Which will be shortly followed with a 3 month? sub.

Thought about it, and I am getting too old and creaky to spend hours perched at a desk. I would wait for reviews but by that time my pals would be playing it and I would get left behind. Decided not to do I bollocks on the £90 one as the DLC may well suck, or, not come out for ages. Daft part is DLC is £39.99, so the same price. Plus I won't have to get very annoyed at Epic Game Store for not having cloud saves.

Not sure how it's going to be on a controller, though. Have always used KBM for BL.

God dammit, wrong thread :wrong:

I play games on Game Pass and tell you about them:

Today I’m reviewing Xbox EXCLUSIVE “Blair Witch.”

It’s made by the Layers of Fear team which should tell you everything you need to know about Blair Witch. It’s shit.

So after packing away the PSVR I booted up TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2. What a great name for a game that is.

I thought I’d see if all my old combos still worked and they did. Jun is now a boss character so I chose her daughter Asuka who plays almost identically for my purposes and Paul. I hit the arcade story mode and got to the final boss in 1CC. It only takes 2 goes to nail Unknown and I get an ending. Yay me.

I was feeling myself, so I try to venture online and amazingly there’s a bunch of people still playing.

I play 4 games and I win all 4 and then the hate mail started. “F spam noob” “learn play Tekken pls” Man, it was a great night.

The Xbox D pad is absolute dogshit for fighting games though. Urgh.

I've been quite enjoying the peace and quite of turning off the chat in Rocket League to avoid the garbage from other players. Then the other day, the two other players on my team suddenly left at the same time and within a minute or two, both had sent me messages - one just saying 'noob' and the other insulting me in French (according to Google Translate, it was something about being pointless to play with me or something). So I've now turned off receiving Xbox Live messages from randoms altogether now.

AND I was throwing out all the combos I knew. I’d even got my hand in the claw position (the only way to play Tekken propah)! And Jun’s Combos are pretty damn complex too X+B, Y, X, X, back+B, B, B, X I think. Or X+B, Y, X, X, B+A, back+B, B, B, A. That’s a lot of buttons for an old man to remember.

Back on Tekken Tag Tournament 2 online and I’m 10/0! I’m the undefeated champion. This is unprecedented!

I beat someone so hard they just lay down on the floor and took a beating.

I swear gaming is filled with highs and lows.

The other day I’m getting hate mail and today I’m getting cool ass messages from people who I’ve had brilliant fights with!

Stay being awesome gaming people!

(FYI: I’m quite decent at TTT2 and I’m properly holding my own against folk in ranked matches. I’m fucking loving it)

There's a sale on in the Xbox store at the moment. Lots of discounted titles, but not exactly heavy discounts (which is why I didn't post this in the bargain thread as I didn't buy a thing)

Microsoft have quietly been putting work into their game streaming service. I've signed up to the trial and I've just had a go at playing Sea of Thieves and Tekken 7 on my phone with an Xbox one pad connected.

It was amazing! No lag and exactly like playing on the console, only smaller. I hope they carry on with this and don't ditch it like they seem to do with all their other innovations.

They’re never the same again, sadly. You can try rinsing through with water and then leaving to dry but that’s risky.

Depending on your confidence with a screwdriver, an Xbox controller is relatively easy to strip down and clean. Putting back together is trickier though. There are a few guides on the youtubes

You'll need a spudger or two if you're going to take it apart which I think, will be the only way to clean it up properly.

Yeah, follow an online guide about taking it apart. You'll feel like you're breaking it when you try to prize it apart but you won't.

I don't have an Xbox One yet, but have loads of 360 games I bought digitally that I want to play again via BC. Burnout Revenge, Geometry Wars 2, Rare Replay, Crackdown and a bunch of others. Gonna come to around £50-60 for the console once I sell the bundled games that I don't care about. It's not got a disc drive, but I don't own any Xbox game discs, and any game that I would be buying on a disc I'd probably get for PS4 anyway.

Once I'm looking for something new to play, I'll probably get game pass.

Fair enough. I like the idea of BC, but back in reality there are always too many new and interesting games for me to ever to back to older stuff. So it's an awesome marketing and technological achievement that MS have carried out, but it turns out that it's of no interest to me.

Game wot I played:

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet - Cor what a title! Sounds exciting, thrilling a tour de force of bullet hell third person shooting. Hang on, it’s some kind of anime MMO. The tutorial was fucking boring as shit, the graphics and environments were basic and supremely uninteresting and it got deleted.

Sea Salt - Pixel art? Oh FFS. Hang about, this is a top down game where you play a swarm of horrific lovecraftian monsters that have risen from the deep to eat the populace. It’s on Game Pass. I’ve played 3 levels and it’s fucking ace. You play the baddies and go around eating folk and ruining everyone’s day. It’s sort of a simple RTS. Kinda, I suppose. I might stick with this.

Well, yes. It's a game based on an anime about being stuck in an MMO.

What did you expect?

It was clearly a jibe at the generic title.

Games wot I played:

Wolfenstein: Young Blood: How’d you make a pretty great single player campaign heavy game and turn it shit? Make it co-op of course! Me and my buddy played this for a couple of hours and we weren’t impressed. It certainly didn’t help that the game is semi-open world now and has a boring hub area where you collect and turn in your missions. Fuck that shit.

Remnant: Ok, here’s the pitch - DARK SOULS x THE DIVISION. IN COOP! The shooting is pitch perfect - heavy meaty gunshots, it just feels good to blast. There’s semi-open world and a hub area... but why isn’t it shit? Lord knows, it’s just interesting, good looking, and even has elements of LEFT 4 DEAD where there’s a director who varies up your play through! Frankly, this is all sorts of bloody awesome. It’s FREE on Game Pass. Maybe even the PC Game Pass version? I can’t be arsed to check. Anyway, this is reet fucking good!

Just got an email to say my XBox Live sub is expiring soon, think it's time to cancel since the XB1X is essentially a (very good) media player these days. (I've already cancelled my PS Plus subscription.)

Always feels a bit sad to let these things lapse, as it's like saying, 'I'm not doing that thing anymore', but it's daft to pay for something I'm basically not using.

Maybe the new XBox console will get me back into the game.

This thread will do!

Just had a spare minute and a bluetooth controller, so had a quick blast on Hotshot Racing on my phone through the Game Pass App.

God Damn if this isn't impressive. The lag is greatly reduced from the last time I tried it. Also, when I tried the beta, it insisted on having an official Xbox controller, but I managed to use my Emtec (GEM Pad BTF 500 codename fans) pad without any issues.

Good stuff.

I took advantage of Game Pass this weekend and downloaded Dragon Age: Origins (released in 2009!) which I somehow never played despite it being almost exactly the sort of game I love. Graphics are fine on the Series X. Load times are super fast, it keeps flashing up loading screens with info, lore and tips written on them that I don't have time to read because it loads too quickly. Combat is pretty shocking, unless I've missed a tutorial somewhere. I don't really understand what I'm supposed to be doing so I'm just trading blows and healing myself until one of us dies. Absolutely devastated to learn that Morrigan isn't a romanceable NPC for a female character :'( Overall I'm enjoying it so far after a couple hours of play and hope I can get more time to spend with it soon.

Yeah, I believe dragon age on consoles is quite different from the pc version. Much more action oriented than overall party management.

Sounded a lot less engaging to me
