It's here. It's out. Again. On PSN for a whopping thirty quid.

Is it on Xbox? I reckon it already is, isn't it? But the Playstation version gets the directors cut. Fack knows what that is, but you get the Suit-Up pack and the Transporter pack.

It's also in 3D.

Its quite an old game that gets a love it or hate it response

Doesn't look as if its on Xbox games on demand so you'd still need a disk and looks as if you'd pay around a tenner for a used copy (link to Amazon : http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listin ... ition=used )

Fack knows.

Maybe someone who's played it can tell us. Supposed to be a classic apparently.

I was going to play it, but got a weird feeling it would be very dangerous.

The graphics are fucking awful, the combat is shoddy and the controls are utterly spack-handed.

Even with all that it's still one of the best games I've ever played and the sheer fucking weirdness of it all is compelling as all hell. It's so fucked up you genuinely want to know what's going to happen next in a way that I've rarely experienced in a game. It's also hilarious in that the drama of various scenes is constantly undermined by the music and characters being utterly at odds with what's happening. That latter approach, along with shitloads of other aspects, are nicked straight from Twin Peaks of course. The game could charitably be called a homage to the TV show but it's got it's own weirdness going on there as well to my mind.

So, yeah, I really enjoyed it but I could totally understand other people despising practically every aspect of it so it's always difficult to know whether to recommend it. You will absolutely either love it or hate it and nothing in between; that much is totally true. Also apparently they've redone the graphics and controls so that might rub some of the rougher edges off it for people.

Also, apparently the Director's Cut has the following:
Quote:
This edition will have updated controls, Stereoscopic 3D, updated HD visuals, PS Move support, downloadable content including various pre-order bonuses, and additional scenarios written by Hidetaka Suehiro aka "Swery65".

Well if you must put it in a little box with one of your little labels on it like some kind of genre fascist then I suppose you could maybe say it's a third-person open-world comedy survival-horror adventure game. Or, y'know, something.

Fascist.

This has just been added to the current Indie Gala bundle so anyone who wanted to see what it was all about but didn't want to commit much money to it can fill their boots. Details of it and the other games in the current bundle here.

I made the mistake of trying to play it immediately after GTA V. The production values of two games couldn't be any more different.

Ugly and beyond weird is about right. Once you get past the first section and the plot gets rolling you'll either be sucked in by how awesomely weird it is or just put off entirely. I utterly loved it and it was one of my favourite games of the last generation.

Yeah, I don't think I'm in the right mood today. I'll come back another day and see how I feel about it.

I got this last month when it was cheap, rather than this month now it's free. I think I've got through the "what the fuck is this shit?" stage, but I'd had enough by then so I stopped playing. I've heard good things, so will hopefully go back to it at some point.
