I prefer my 3:30 home time.

I actually love it that everyone else goes home at 4 and I can spend two hours on my iPad if it's quiet.

The council are obviously rolling in free cash if they can plan to expand the scale of their fly tipping division like that.

All the bins have been left outside the bin store. Lazy bastards.

I work for a council and I can state that fly tipping definitely doesn't go up when bin collections are reduced.

Oh... No. Wait. I meant the other way round. It does go up.... Drastically.

How big are the green bins? Our general waste only gets collected once a fortnight and there's no problems.

Our bins are all full-sized wheelie bins, and the recycling one gets emptied one week and the green one the next (the black "general" bin gets emptied every week).

That's not often enough for recycling.

We have 4 recycle tubs.

Our council does not collect cardboard, so I do a tip run once a fortnight

We are meant to have orange bags for recycling, but we haven't had any delivered in months. Luckily there is a council recycling station next to the local primary school.

That'll suck when your restraining order goes through.

About 3 and a bit feet tall by 18 inches squared.

FFS, what kind of idiot is running the refuse department? Green bins for general waste!!!??? Green is, by its very nature, for re-fucking-cycling.

We have 4 wheelies; green for garden and food waste, blue for paper and cardboard, brown for glass, certain plastics and metals, and grey for non-recyclable items.

Fuck, I wish we had a glass bin.

Wouldn't it get broken really easily though?

Fortunately, I have glass/card/plastic/clothes/shoes recycling opposite the office. Which makes the fact that the local recycling is a bit poor less of an issue.

Our general waste bin is green. Recycling is grey! Garden waste is a tasteful brown

Red lid (small-ish bin) for general (weekly, or for the stingy/single fortnightly at a discounted rate)
Yellow lid (larger bin) for comingled recycling, collected fortnightly.
Green lid (larger bin) for garden waste collected fortnightly.

I also bought a worm farm for the food scraps. I'll take a picture of them all lined up.

I leave mine til the morning to put them out as The Boy wakes me early so I'm up before the binmen come round anyway.

I have a composter, are the worm farms good?

They're pretty good but only for food scraps. They have to be kept really moist, drying out is not good for them. If given too much, the scraps may go mouldy which is a little gross but it doesn't take long to get a feel for the right amount, and the colony will grow quickly and adapt to the amount of food.

The 'worm tea' (flow through from the water added to keep it moist) is really good for veggie patches, it's full of goodness an the plants seem to go wild. I've not really used the worm poo as a soil additive yet.

They don't take too much caring for really.
