No, Suzanne Moore made a comment about transgendered people in an article in the Graun, then said various ill-tempered things on Twitter like "go and chop your bloody dicks off and be more feminist than me then" when someone on Twitter picked her up on her original fairly minor PC-crime reference to Brazilian transsexuals. Burchill then jumped in to defend her mate Suzanne with an astonishingly unpleasant tirade against trans people in general.

Burchill's article then got pulled and the Graun apologised for it.

I hate that I know all this.

It is like a soap opera for the chattering classes, isn't it? I mean, these people HAVE to be characters now. It has gone too far. I can't take them seriously at all as they are too far from any standard deviation from the norm.

I mentioned this in the Yay! thread but I'm mentioning it here too as I need some advice...

Picture the scene: you've made it through the 1st stage of the interview process for a job you very much hope to get. The first was a face-to-face jobbie and you've obviously made a decent impression.

Now you've been invited to a 2nd interview with the first interviewer's boss, only this person works in Europe and thus wants to conduct the interview over Skype.

Do you:
a) try to book the day off as annual leave / throw a sickie so you can take the Skype call from home?

or

b) go to work as normal and try to arrange the Skype call for your lunch break, and take it from the car?

Technical issues are totally notwithstanding - I've got as good an internet connection to my phone at work as I do at home.

Personally, I'd take the day off, have the interview in the morning and then have super fun times for the rest of the day.
