Of course, it's cold, which means our boiler has packed up. It's losing pressure constantly - topping up twice a day, at least. We went out on saturday for the whole day and came back to discover that the boiler had emptied entirely, and tripped the circuit breaker for the circuit it's on. There's no conspicuously large pools of water lying around the house, and it's a reasonably new boiler. Landlord sent a plumber round today, but there's no sign of it having been fixed. Hope it's not underfloor piping that's gone... Oh well, another night with electric heaters, lots of filling the kettle and a shower at work. Bah.

I was expecting this thread to be about Cheryl Cole.

I'm considering asking my landlord to allow me to install a boiler. And radiators. And stuff.

I did spend a few minutes trying to come up with a suitable subtitle joke, but couldn't. Oh well.

It's still fucking cold, though.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Parm but take solace in the fact that it also cheers me up to find out that I'm not the only one with boiler issues. Luckily though the immersion heater is still working so I can have hot water, just no effing heating and it's bloody cold at the moment (supposedly -5 tonight). On top of which the plumper who said it way the pcb on the system didn't get back to me today with an eta on the replacement turning up. So Buggeration all round.

My boiler is also broken. It's been like that for months now, just too lazy to call anyone to fix it. Still got hot water.

Me and MrsP have adjusted, but if anyone comes over, it becomes pretty obvious that they're freezing cold :)

Just realized I was in TWO fucking hardware stores this weekend and didn't think to buy a stupid radiator key to reduce the pressure.

Don't your rads have split head valves you can put a screwdriver in? Or even use a pair of needle nose pliers.

I lived for so long without any heating that I start to feel extremely uncomfortable and physically drained whenever we have it on. I'm one of those twunts who wears thin t-shirts on horrendous wintry mornings and who abhors all manner of coats.

So the plumper rang and said he will be round tomorrow afternoon to fix my boiler...will he turn up? how much will he cost? will he accept sexual favours instead? Who knows.

Oops, schoolboy error there. Still we might get a few more randoms searching for 'Plumpers sexual favours' now.

Not only did he refer to plumpers earlier, but also to there being buggeration all around. With the plumper.

Certainly something on his mind.

The fact that it's called Vamp.gif leads me to suspect it's probably from a Castlevania variant.

Exciting boiler update!

It's not the boiler. There's a burst pipe somewhere under our living room. :(

Plumber is round digging trenches through our living room as I type.

Fortunately, it's rented, so this isn't costing us anything, but we've had no heat or hot water for about a week now.

How much plumper buggeration was there? Are you going to upload it to Perkies site?

The Boiler...IT LIVES :DD

Suprisingly little buggeration involved and has solved a problem with the sodding thing that has been going on for years (which I've just lived with rather than getting it fixed).

Little buggeration stil implies some buggeration.
If you need help kicking your problem with Plumper buggeration, I could find the correct number to call.

Bought some radiator keys today and bled rather a lot of water (well, a litre, ish) out of one of the rads. The pressure gauge is now back in the happy grey area, and having just started the system up it appears to now be at operating temperature and STILL well within the happy grey area.

Huzzah!

No air whooshed out, and the water, thankfully, was clean.

Just had the engineer in to look at the boiler (MrsP's Nan was home, in case your interested) and apparently, we need a new INTERCEPTOR VALVE. As awesome as that sounds, it means we have to wait another few days in the freezing cold for a part to arrive. Ho hum
