Strange timing. We were just saying at lunch that everything had gone quiet on the Mcafee front and it was no fun anymore...that and how we should all move to Belize as there is no income tax and getting Belize citizenship isn't that hard.

I've got an iPhone 4, unlocked and in full working order. It's in shit shape cosmetically - the glass on the front is scratched, the glass on the back is badly cracked near the camera lens and the camera lens is badly scratched and needs replacing. But the home button isn't too bad and definitely has a better than 1-in-10 chance of working when you push it.

Just in case anyone else here has a burning need to rid themselves of £100 of their money?

Wow, Newport sucks. I've got 4 hours here whilst my passport is (hopefully, assuming another Kissyfur isn't out there using my identity as a terrorist or something) made up for me.

So I'm in Starbucks drafting a contract. The wifi is better than McDs, but the coffee isn't.

Probably, yes. I'll revise my offer to £58 once you've sent it though :)
(seriously, I'll PM you later).

Facebook question - is there any way of removing someone's updates from your feed without defriending them? A relative of sorts is spamming the place constantly - by way of example, she's posted circa 100 motivational pictures in the last day!

Yes. Hover over their update, click the arrow that appears on the right, choose 'hide', click 'Change what updates you get from Mrs Chris'.

If you go to the person's page click the little cog icon then select report/block. The top option is to unsubscribe which stops their status updates from appearing in your timeline.

I have had to do this several times. The inane drivel some otherwise okay people post is maddening. Baby/child photo posters are the worst.

I like how there is a special promotion on the "Private Islands" magazine...I wouldn't have thought a publication about buying yourself your own island would be price sensitive. This recession is worse than any of us thought.

Perhaps it is a multi-part instruction manual with collectors items? "Build your own Caribbean paradise with this 50,000 issue special collectors magazine - just $5*.

Okay, fine, what is our budget then? I think it unlikely we are going to get a volcano, but maybe that is for the best, they won't be expecting a secret base if there is no volcano.

Sometimes it's too good to be true.

Mind you, agency guy has just called to say that the company 'likes' me and wants to know if I like them. I might go round to pull their pigtails and run off.

Also, the island appears to be creating a forcefield of calm ocean around itself, which presumably indicates there's already some serious physics manipulating equipment installed.

I was once in a security monitoring centre that looked after branches of McDonalds. One branch had a fault with its back door that kept setting the alarm off. Nobody laughed at my joke about it being the Hamburgler. Bastards.

Quote:
my (then) three year old and I had the Fisher Price farmhouse and castle out a while ago (courtesy of the car boot sale and ebay), except it wasn't really a castle and farmhouse, it was a feudal society, with the farm workers subject to the whims of the princess holed up in the castle, and a rampaging beast - played admirable by the dog - on the loose outside the fenced-off lands, which the farmhands had to defend. It was an epic tale of struggle, injustice and hope, set against the backdrop of a rural class war.
