stagnet.co.uk - Yes, it's shut down, but the forum is still there read only.

Looks like the forum produced an offspring before it went anyway :)

MrsA is off to the states in February for 8 days, returning mid-April, so she asked me if there was anything I wanted bringing back. Would electrical devices bought in the US work in the UK?

It has indeed gone, and recently. I looked at it the other week, to see if Shin had had her baby. Turns out she did, only a few hours before I looked. Weird.

That's a shame. All differences aside, it seemed to be of value to those that posted there.

The past two work trips she has been on have resulted in extended stays.

Generally not as they run on 120v 60Hz as opposed to 230v 50Hz. Some devices that have a battery and charger that will run on multiple voltages will be OK though (EG a laptop). They will say something like 'Input 110-240VAC 50-60Hz' on the label. Many chargers are like this these days I think.

Chinny's Storytime

Mrs Chinny had a friend (let's call her "Z") whose fiancee (who she lived with) did alot extended work stays abroad. Many per year, all over the world......

Turns out he was actually spending the time with his wife and family 10 miles away who he hadn't actually divorced at all. Indeed he was still playing the organ in the local church every Sunday. Presumably wifey either thought that he was off on trips when with the other woman, or tolerated his "affair". I actually suspect the latter because I had always thought he hadn't cut off his wife like he claimed had said. Very shifty man, could never engage him in conversation at all and would do everything to avoid talking to you.

When Z discovered all this (months after everyone else had evidence this was indeed the case) she refused to believe it and moved 500 miles away still planning to marry the potential bigamist. I suspect he helped her move to get her out of the way.

This is correct, but translates as "generally yes", as you're probably thinking of bringing back electronic gadgets rather than things that actually work on 125V mains current directly like a hairdryer, popcorn popper, etc.

He goes by the name of Tommy Robinson, who was an old school football hooligan in Luton. So apparently he adopted this name in some sort of tribute/attempt to get meatheads to follow him. the odd bit being that apparently the 'real' Tommy Robinson wanted nothing to do with the EDL at all.

So, I have an iPhone 4 that I no longer use, which has a home button that is on the way out. It still works but takes a firm press.
To save all the ebay hassle, I did a quote from one of those phone recycle places, and they quoted me £142 for a working phone, and it looked on ebay that I could get £200 for a good phone, or about £150 for a broken one. So I figured I might as well send it to these guys and save ebay hassle.

The £142 offer turned into £58 once they had tested it :D I was expecting a couple of quid taken off, but not £90! I rejected that offer and they immediately came back and offered £72, which was amusing. What changed in the condition of the phone between me rejecting the first offer I wonder ;)

Anyway, i'm getting it sent back and i'll go do the ebay route. I just thought the counter offer was interesting, I really didn't expect that, I assumed it would be a "this is the price, take it or leave it" sort of thing.

I get a call at 7:45 a.m. a few weeks ago that I only got up for to scream at whoever dare call at that hour.

Missing the call, I check the voice message and it says -

"Hey John it's Mike Ragogna from KRUU & HuffPost - we have a phone interview scheduled if you can please call the studio line - it'll be real easy, just a few questions about the new release and PiL."

I had an interview scheduled with this same guy at noon so he'd obviously put the wrong phone number to the wrong guest - and although I don't know shit about music I did catch the John and the PiL together and realized he was calling for John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten.

So I dialed the number he'd called me from, got voicemail and left a message saying who I was and that he'd called the wrong guest.

Ten minutes later I'm woken up again to the phone ringing and now I fucking furious.

"Hey John it's Mike Ragogna from KRUU & HuffPost - we have a phone interview scheduled if you can please call the studio line..."

This time I said fuck it, wrote down the studio number, put on the best British accent I could muster (which is absolutely fucking awful) and called in to do the interview as best as I could, being still half asleep and not knowing shit about who I am pretending to be.

We assumed that there was no way it would ever air... certainly someone would realize or fact check - I mean, I left him a voicemail message on his cell phone that he was calling the wrong number.

But they put it up today and at this moment still have no idea. I bet they pull it all down shortly after this goes up but we now have the recording and screen shots as back-up.

Find the KRUU.com audio version HERE (starts around 12:30) and the transcript of the interview on Huffington Post HERE.

UPDATE: Sometime this morning on 10/26/12 KRUU.com and the Huffington Post took down the interview. You can still find our backup below.

Sadly they edited out the fun parts where I would pause to fake-vomit mouthfuls of water into the toilet our loudly take a piss with the phone just over the bowl but they left in the "Howard Stern" and "Baba-Booey." How could they have ever guess they'd been duped?

Also, HERE is an interview I did as myself on same phone number later. Guy still clueless.

In case the original interview and audio disappear, evidence is embedded below.

Father goes to awesomely extreme lengths

Quote:
A Chinese Dad has come up with a unique way of persuading his game-addicted son to turn engage with the real world: hiring gaming pros to destroy his morale by hunting him down online.

The frustrated father had apparently seen his 23-year-old offspring become obsessed with online games to the point that he had no interest in trying to find a job, according to Chinese media reports picked up by Livedoor and RocketNews24.

The pallid youth, who had become rather adept at his chosen profession of sitting at home playing war games, then discovered something strange was happening every time he logged on – he’d be taken out immediately by another player
