I just emailed MrsA to tell her "If you can book the venue and the registrar there's a bar there so worst case is we'll get married and get shitfaced with people", but she still wants to look at other places enxt week as she's 'worried about people with babies'. Fuck them and their lifestyle choices.

All my work is out for review or impacting. So I am strangely quiet. I am sure it won't last.
I wll sort my email expenses and time sheet, then go home.

Of course, since then, every person we know, now has at one baby :)

Yep, when I got married last time, I was young enough that the only person I know who had a baby was my sister, which was an exception I could permit.

I was reading about the Astute Class submarines and I tought: Wait a moment, why do they have crews? Why not just remotely program them once a week and let them trundle about and do stuff and then take over in real time when needed like what we do with drones?

They're very big and complicated machines, just like ships they need a crew just to keep them running. Also radio waves do not penetrate water well at all, they have to be near the surface or deploy buoys to make contact and also in the event of a total nuclear war they have orders to carry out autonomously I think.

Indeed. Even if you somehow arranged a ton of babysitters so they could all leave little Tarquin/Jocasta at home; you know the conversation would still degenerate into "so when are you and MrsA having children?", "my little Arlo won first prize in the Twattiest Parents competition at school," and, "You're not a parent, you just wouldn't understand!"

Heh. IN fairness, they've (our friends) have been pretty good at not doing that sort of thing. As far as I'm aware, The Men go to the pub, drink and do MAN STUFF when we're all together and The Women go shopping.

Why, Apple, must you make simple File Sharing in Mountain Lion such a pain?!?

I can't get bloody SMB to work, I can't get FTP to work...

Oh, it does just work. In 10.7. 10.8 Server though seems to like teasing me, by starting to work and then shoving two furry feline fingers in my direction. The bastard.

Because two posts are never enough when I'm having a grumble, I've literally spent half my day trying to get a photocopier than can very happily send scanned documents via SMB or FTP to any other OS you care to mention to a Mountain Lion Server, and can I get it to work? Can I fuck!

I gather SMB has been changed in 10.8 to such a degree I'll never get it to work with our equipment, but FTP! FTP is a proper not-even-Microsoft standard! How can it be so bloody hard to get something to work with FTP?!?

You may ask the hive one question. One, Zio. Which will it be? Think carefully, for you know what the answer to at least one of those will be.

Jesus Christ, Children in Need is bad this year.

Plus I still can't quite get behind watching a parade of incredibly rich people telling us we should be giving away money.

I have no rum. Or gin. All I have is vodka and bourbon. And beer.

I had an eye exam at 2pm. The drops to dilate your pupils meant walking down the street afterwards was like having the HDR and bloom effects from hell turned on.
