I haven't seen that one yet, but then we don't have one here, it could be a regional thing.

I only watch TV when there's football on, so I tend to see the same ads over and over, particularly SHOUTY-LADBROKES-MAN and MEERKATS-SELLING-MEERKATS, both helpfully reminding me why I don't watch much TV.

Littlewoods has gone from scum to scummier, though - headhunting Klass and, it would seem, the advertising peeps from M&S to try and steal trade. GIVE IT UP LITTLEWOODS, YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN INFERIOR AND WILL ALWAYS BE CON ARTISTS.

Yes, my only experiences with Littlewoods have been distinctly sub-Dixons, why do you ask?

Hmm. You would think that my efforts, after missing three trains, to walk home from Leeds along the canal before calling it off to get a cab would be slightly better received than they were.

Interesting class this Wednesday just gone... we had a Deaf teenager and his mother, a Deaf lady and a Deaf-blind lady all come into our class to talk about the issues they faced growing up or in the adult world. Some of it was as upsetting as it was fascinating.

The young boy is in a mainstream (ie: hearing) school but goes to Deaf camp in the summer, and said that grade (primary) school was very rough.

The Deaf lady was hard of hearing before so can speak but generally chooses not to, especially after starting a job and having people asking if she was from Europe or something because of her accent. One person was so floored by the revelation that 'No, I'm Deaf' that they just weren't able to speak to her again.

The Deaf-blind lady said that school was terrible. It was a Deaf school, and the other kids would tease her for being Deaf AND low vision. Even the teachers got in on the act, with accusations of her being badly behaved and inattentive.

We're in a bar in Manchester called The Font which has literally the biggest selection of beer I've ever seen. It's fucking mind boggling. They've even got Erdinger Urweisse on tap which is unheard of.

Are some cheap DVDs not quite uniform in terms of size and shape, etc? I have a pack of Data Cell ones and some of them seem to be scratching against the sides of the player (or scratching against something), which doesn't necessarily stop them from playing but creates a lot of noise. I don't have any other discs that do this...

Are they flat? I had a Saturn game that wasn't flat and made some funny noises.

I think that it had become warped in heat or something.

They seem flat, but I dunno! If I try to spin 'em with my finger, they don't spin completely freely (other discs do), but I can't tell what exactly they're catching on...

Try placing them on a flat surface? That's how I found out about my Saturn game.

Other than that, I don't know?

Dunno who she is, but to my eyes she looks about 13?

About the only reaction I get, personally, is a sinking feeling that she's going to ask me to "check" (i.e. do) her science or maths homework. :D

Indeed! I know what you mean. I hear about things like 'The Killing' or 'HIMYM', but the only actor I really see nowadays is Ray Winstone. All right Ray? Not too bad, Raymondo. If I was you, Ray, I'd go for cards and corners. Etc.

She's certainly a person. I can see why some would find her attractive and others less so. I'm more an Andreia Brazier kinda guy.

You know that awful song that is on Sky Sports when the football is on? On the Ford sponsorship bits? My next door neighbour was listening to that the other day.
