Looking good there. Just what I want.

It does seem like combat between two similar human controlled ships could be hard to score a kill.

I found it hard to score a kill in Frontier. It's why I invested in big ships with high shields so they'd just slingshot around me to present an arc.

He did say they were taking it easy.

I imagine with a beam laser it would slightly easier!

Even though it looks like the Elite kickstarter is going to be a bit of a struggle at the current rate, the fact that the Dizzy one is performing horrendously pleases me. This probably makes me worse than the opposite of Lord McAlpine.

I thought very similar, maybe they should give Dizzy a version of their own faces.

Almost half way. I wonder if they need more packages as all the expensive ones have been purchased. Mostly the cheaper versions left and I'm not sure that's going to cover it at this rate.

Yeah, I think they've structured it quite poorly.

Although saying that, I do notice that the new tiers they added a week or so ago are unlimited. Fingers crossed, still.

If they get a ramp up at the end then it should be ok!

They'll still getting about £10,000 a day, So if that keeps up, that's £300,000 more with a week to go, they would still only need another £300,000 or so in the last week, which is more than possible.

Look at some successful kickstarters on kicktraq

There needs to be constant, dizzying press interest in the Elite one. QUISCHIN! Was Elite just a Yerp only success?

Wonder if Braben will pledge the last few hundred thousand quid if it's not looking like it'll make the finish line? No doubt kicking off a rage storm about kickstarter all over again!

"Oh look, I do have £300,000 just lying around in my pocket, I should have remembered that and set the target lower. Silly me!"

Some of those on there have said the biggest single pledge you can make is #5,000, (shit my keyboard has gone all American again) as a few people have wanted to pledge more than that but couldn't

Ah right, I thought that was just the top reward tier you were allowed to input but people could pledge over that. Probably makes sense from an anti money laundering point of view too.

Or he could just give the money, if he has 300k lying around, to his lawyer and get him to get lots of different people all over the world to pledge or donate if you will. That would work.

you do fly the ship in EvE. manual piloting is an essential part of pvp. without manual flying. also, it isn't full of cunts. i am not sure where this came from. pretty much everyone i played with, for, or against, was nothing but lovely in the long run. I had a great few beers with people that hunted me down and exploded me.

All the DRAHMA and intrigue he discussed will all be done by a preset script for the AI factions to follow. EvE has all that shit except it's being done by humans.

How much influence can a player gain in the new Elite? Are you restricted to just one ship?

Who outside the development team would know? Literally all anyone knows has been linked to. Yowtchob and Kackstutter.

You weren't in Frontier, so I very much doubt so now.

What I meant was: can you own multiple ships? Can you have multiple characters? I assume you must be able to, unlike Frontier.

I am sure I read somewhere that you could own multiple ships, but one would be designated your main one.

Not sure where I read it now though...

For me, the really important thing is that EVE has never, ever appealed to me. There was a guy I worked with at Gamestation who loved it, and the more he talked about it, the less interesting it seemed to me.

On the other hand, I FUCKING LOVE ELITE, FRONTIER AND FIRST ENCOUNTERS AND I FUCKING NEED THIS GAME IN MY LIFE!!!

So that's why Elite Dangerous appeals to me more than EVE does.

It strikes me as the sort of game where you have to put a lot in before you really get anything out of it. Same with a lot of these space sims. I love the idea of them but apparently not enough.

Lordy. Big game hunting on planet surfaces? Sneaking on to somebody's ship and nicking it? Oh lordy, I have the vapours.

I look forward to the paid DLC containing these items at a later date, along with paying real money for the "licenses" to get into the reserved systems when they're done.

Every time they come out with something that sounds amazing, the next update has something that's a bit shit.

Yeah, I'd much rather them release something half-arsed and not complete like he did with First Encounters. That was much better.

I'm now genuinely worried they might not meet the target. Then it'll NEVER happen. No Elite 4. Braben will be all smug and 'it would have been the best game ever' and I will hate him for it.

They should have asked for less money.

Interestingly, I reckon the only game I put anywhere near as much time into as I did with Elite would be Skyrim. I reckon Elite was probably about double the hours. I eventually convinced myself that the speccy version only has three missions, even though others have more.

So, how is he going to keep the servers running for this game? Some kind of subscription? Otherwise who is paying for the ongoing maintenance?

Will these updates be free or DLC? Otherwise how will they be funded.

All a bit vague. As with the previous 2 games, HUGE promises but can he deliver?
