Pretty sure I'll always be keeping my phone on me now.

Are we honestly going to pretend that habitually a mobile phone around is less odd than carrying a frying pan for anyone? Really?

Mimi wrote:
I honestly don't care if you take your phone out, why would I?

I've no idea; I've never at any point claimed that you would. I'm just having a conversation here.

I think you miss the point: I think it's strange to habitually carry around anything you don't use. I'm not applying that to you.

Of course I don't care whether you carry your phone, so if you see re-stating the idea that it is important/useful that you carry your phone despite nobody you shouldn't as a discussion, then so be it, but I don't think it's particularly interesting.

We were discussing the use and appeal of the Smart Watches. I mentioned my lack of interest due to the ways and situations in which I find my phone useful, and saw the watch as an extension thereof. The fact that you carry your phone around doesn't make a discussion of whether I'd find a SmartWatch useful or engaging, though if it makes your phone more useful to you and you would like and can afford one, you should buy one.

We started from the point of you simply saying you don't often take your phone out of the house; that was the viewpoint I essentially questioned because the point of a mobile phone is to carry it with you it seemed vaguely interesting to ask you about it (in a round about way). Yes, I did compare and contrast my own uses in order to frame my comments but I was really asking about you and not just pointlessly stating my own thoughts for no reason and that seems like a weird thing to be accused of here.

Anyway, this has more than run it's course so I'll just shut up now.

That depends on the company you keep. As evidenced by the various Android/iOS threads here, and all the discussion everywhere else on the internet, a lot of people are interested in phone technology in and of itself and not just because they've somehow run out of other things to talk about (does that ever actually happen?).

Yes. Then they get married.

As good a summary of the case against the Watch Edition as I've read anywhere.

Yes, this is a good article.

I still think there will be plenty of people with more money than sense who will buy it though, just for the tacky bling factor. Plus it makes me feel so much better about my £319 version.

What's interesting is that literally every single observer is saying the same thing. The educated tech press perspective is almost entirely redundant - it's quite obviously not worth the money and is just a toy for wankers.

Latest Jobs film looks interesting - 'Man In The Machine'.

Not entirely flattering though, to say the least. I don't think it's going to tell many people anything they don't already know (that Jobs was a pretty nasty piece of work, basically), but should still be worth a watch.

£9 direct from EE it seems, maybe free depending on your contract with them.
Too many factors to say for sure, best to give EE and call and ask :)

I was checking O2's recycle site as that got me the best price the last time I sold a phone and they only offer £45 if the phone's locked to EE. Unsurprisingly they offer the best price if it's unlocked or on O2 (£96) but even on Three or Vodafone they offer £75; what's so special about an iPhone locked to EE I wonder?

Well, if she just had three and it was the end of the sentence, then Kov's post is spot on.

I keep trying to avoid unnecessary parentheses (they get irritating with overuse) and unnecessary colons: it's hard to break these habits.

I'm the same with brackets but it's semi-colons that are my other vice.

Shouldn't that be a semicolon?

It's two related statements, so feels like it should be.

Which iPad should I buy for MrsA? She wants to watch Scandal on Netflix in bed, do Face time with Mummy Afterthought and watch Kimmy Schmidt in bed. Should I be getting the Air 2? Is that better than the miNi?

If I'm honest, they're all pretty much the same. Get the full sized one.

I did a comparison of the actual screen sizes for watching video and there's remarkably little difference between the mini and the air 2. Unless she needs it as a laptop replacement and needs the grunt, I'd get a 16gb mini 2, as the only difference between the 2&3 is the fingerprint scanner

Don't get 16 GB iOS devices unless you are really, really, really sure you'll never need the space. Even the lightest of photo syncing or games downloading will fill it fast.
