The creators have had a good, hard think about how they can make this game better with their DLC. After what must have been months of brainstorming and creative thinking they've decided to make a wave-based arena mode for the first DLC. How very unusual.

It doesn't even make sense. The combat was the least interesting part of Dishonoured. I can understand it's an 'easy' thing to do, but really, who thought up the idea? It's can't have been anyone who'd ever seen the game.... surely?

Following Havelock's sudden yet inevitable betrayal, I decided my Corvo had finally had his innocence knocked away and became a murderous killing machine. No more choke holds and ghosting past people. I killed practically all of Daud's crew (left Daud though), left most of the people at the Hound Pits alive (they were innocents), then went brutal and neck-sliced and face-stabbed some 60-odd guards at the lighthouse. The power that turns people to ashes when you kill them, combined with the zoomy-zoom and the crossbow, is very powerful. I left Havelock alive to face torture and prison because fuck that guy.

Oh, and I sided with Slackjaw, not Rags.

Being a goody two shoes in earlier missions got me the Low Chaos ending though. I've watched the other two endings on Youtube, and read up on soe of the differences towards the end of the game -- I'm very impressed by some of the clever stuff the devs did.

I did most of the sidequests, although I see now that I missed one about escorting plague victims to safety in the chapter 7 -- not sure how that passed me by.

I just spend a fun half hour or so mopping up some cheevos that looked amusing. Kill 6 people in 1 sec; travel 30m in 1 sec; kill 4 people with the crossbow in 1 sec; cause 5 suicides; cause someone to kill 5 of their allies. Tried for "fight five guys at once" but couldn't get it to drop. I did get "escape from 5 guys" though. I neglected to kill blokey feller for Regicide when I had the chance, and I might try the "kill someone with his own live grenade" one. And then I'm done; the others would all demand a complete second (and more) play through, which I'm not fancying.

What platform you getting it on Vision?

I've got this as a 95% certainty for the Steam Christmas Sale at a tenner, me and my PC spod chums are hanging on for that almost certain eventuality.

Not sure how it'll pan out on the 360 but pre-owned should be at about that price by then?

Picked this up on PC, as Green man were doing Steam Keys for it for 15 quid. Gameplay is fun, but graphics have a bit of a retro feel to them, in a bad way. I know you get hordes of them running around so they're not going to be super intricate, but the rats look like they're done with three polygons and a 16x16 texture. I guess this is the price you pay for cross-platform development where the other two platforms are out of date and underpowered children's toys.

If you do pick it up from Game check if its the normal or special edition - they are both the same price but the special edition has an artbook and cards n stuff (if you want them that is)

It's alright this. It's more Deus Ex than Half Life 2. Not that I can remember anyone saying it was like Half Life 2 but it's not like that anyway. Just so you know.

Half Life 2 didn't have massive banners telling you to do stuff.

I like games that don't remind you that they're games.

Still, Dishonoured, it's still pretty good. I like the escape from the prison, but especially where you had to lead the rats from the door unlocking mechanism.

It's like the perfect example of a puzzle that requires no explanation and I'm glad the game left me alone. You walk in and rats are eating a body in a sewer; above guards are tossing in corpses to dispose of the remains. The rats attack you when you get close but you need to move them as they near the door mechanism since the door is close. The solution: toss a corpse nearby and let the rats go at it while you open the door and escape.

During this whole time I'm not given an 'objective', there's no hints and there's only the chatter of the guards echoing into the sewer building on the background story.

It's brill. More of this please.

Yes, I bought this for my nephew for Christmas and we spent yesterday afternoon playing it. He would keep just rushing in and killing everything. It seems pretty great, though. Probably pick it up myself when it's even cheaper.

Right, lets get one thing straight, there's something special here. I've finished the first assassination - takes bleeding ages if you want to go exploring (which I do) - and it's clicked.

The levels are wide and tall and richly detailed throughout. It's bloody lovely I tells ya. Little details are everywhere. Ok, so if you want to go smack everyone up and go straight for the money shot, you can, but if your play it properly (and why not fuck a couple of baddies up along the way, since stealthing can get a bit dull and too difficult) then it's fabulous. The only reason to go exploring seemed to be to pick up the power-ups but there's a variety of ways to get about and into places and, er, shit. It's taken the first mission to get into the groove but about 2/3 hours later and I'm thinking that this is better than, um, Bioshock, for some reason. Probably since its very similar to that. Without all the bollocks and mini-games and, shit. Ooh and the incidental details are great.

My favourite so far: the guard who's ill. He doesn't want his eyes to bleed and asks his colleague to kill him. He does. It's dark. It's great.

Anyway, Dishonoured, it's made me want to play it after a real lull gaming (for me at least).

This is brilliant. Really brilliant. I'm struggling to get the feeling that it's amazing - y'know, that feeling you get when something is exciting, edge of your seat, pant wetting amazing - but it's intelligent, well made, and has a certain amount of genius about it.

I love zapping places with super-zappy speed travel.

I love the fantastic level design.

I love the sense of place and character.

I love the stories.

I love the chatter, the sound, the graphics and the way your head rolls when it gets chopped off.

The "only" thing that's even slightly irritated me are the loading times. It's the best thing I've played in yonks.

Something groovy. I was doing the bridge level and was just about half way across. I was sneaking pretty good up until then. I snuck along the top of the bridge zapping from girder to girder, climbed some chains and disable the lights before zapping down the other side and under the bridge. A change of pace was needed: I possess a fish and swim to the far side. Not a sole (ho-ho) noticed my fabulous infiltration and extrication. Well, until I climb the stairs just as a guard is walking that way. Sloppy.

The guard charges at me, only for me to zappy zap out of harms way. Only thing was, the guard didn't stop running and the only thing behind me was a drop off the bridge onto craggy rocks. One guard splatted.

If you have a high chaos level when you reach this part then it'll play out completely differently.

I might be inclined to play this a second time actually, unless it pisses me off towards the end. I can't see it happening though since its filled with awesome so far.

Did anyone pinch Sokolov as easy as me? Zapped up onto the roof with little fuss and escaped with his unconscious body! I tried a few times to get through the indoors part with no fighting but it was too much hard work, then I spied a chain outside and - bobs your uncle - I'm up top. Brilliant, brilliant level design.

Yep. My first time doing that level I just zapped up to the roof from one of the other rooftops, as I was already up there for whatever reason. Snuck in, walloped him over the head and snuck out. I made life hard by going downstairs to steal some fancy painting.

I got to the start of the second mission on the PS3 before buying the PC version in the Steam sale at Christmas (I got the PS3 version as a Christmas gift). It is much nicer playing the PC one, so I've started again on that, but so far have only got as far as the High Overseer's office ready for that first assassination. I'm finding it to be more of a chore than I was expecting to retrace these steps in the game, particularly as that first mission seems to take so long. I'm hoping I'll get back in to it once I've caught up with my PS3 progress, because I was certainly enjoying it the first time around. I love the world they've created for it.

I found that with Knowledge of the maps I could just ZIP across them. Both times I finished the games I just maxxed out the running and ZIPPING skills and I could get from one side of the map to the other in no time at all. If you're not doing a stealth playthrough it's even faster, as you can just sprint past people openly :)

This is better than Bioshock. Far better. I liked Bioshock but it was linear corridors really wasn't it? Not in a bad way, mind, but Dishonoured feels more like a spiritual successor to Half Life 2. Not least the graphics - it's Edwardian City 17 - but the smart layout of the levels and the people brimming with personality.

What a great, and surprisingly understated for a computer game, ending.

It just misses out on GOTY 2012 just because Journey was so memorable and beautiful. And Dark Souls DLC was Dark Souls DLC.

I can't wait to jump straight back into it and go all balls out and slash people's faces off since I largely snuck about. I wasn't afraid to kill when the moment required though - I played it my way and it let me. What a smart and intelligent game.

Play this game. Play it or I'll, er, um, look, just frickin' play it alright. It's aces.

That's basically the "how to move" tutorial. You don't even have you teleporting powers. At least try the first mission.

Yeah, what Pod said. I really got into it after the first mission. It's proper bangin' yo.

I've started again with murder on my mind and its astonishing how quickly you can smash through the game just being a dick. It reminds me a lot like Hitman in that regard, since you get out of it what you put in. That is surely a very good thing.
