Games Workshop are being cunts again? What a surprise? Asserting that you have a trademark on a term almost as old as science fiction?

If you don't move to protect a trade mark, you might lose it so it makes comemrcial sense to aggressively attack this sort of thing.

Except: they don't have a trademark for fiction. They also would have great difficulty registering a trademark. Due to all the millions of uses of 'space marine' in science fiction. They are just throwing their weight around. Because they're cunts.
