Sounds like the same cunt that did that to me after we'd spent about 4-5 hours cleaning the whole bloody gaff.

Estate agent called the following day to find out how the viewing went, and was most shocked when I explained he hadn't turned up. They called him to find out what the fresh hell he was doing, and he said he'd had a change of heart and that the flat wasn't for him after all.

Well, thanks for telling us, fuckstick!

I think it's being streamed on YouTube too, so that's probably going to handle it even if the Red Bull site doesn't.

Nah, there were reported problems in the Manchester area which have allegedly been "fixed", but mine's still fucked after a reconnect when I got up (no Internet connection at all before that). YouTube videos are very bursty too - lumps at high speed, then 10-15 seconds of nothing.

The PC is reacting really badly to it too, I don't think Chrome likes bitty links one bit.

I'm going to reboot the router properly in a minute and see if that helps. Edit: Nope.

Hooray, whatever it was seems to be fixed.

The YouTube dive feed seems to be knacked as well.

Edit: Oh, maybe just because it's delayed again. redbull.tv is fine here.

Half past five.

And yes, bah. I wanted to see how high the dust splashed.

Assuming he's not vaporised by breaking the sound barrier, of course. Is there any research into what sort of forces breaking the sound barrier subjects a human to if he's not sat in a rocket?

Terminal velocity increases as atmospheric pressure decreases. Whether TV goes above the speed of sound while there's still enough stuff to count as "atmosphere" I don't know.

17.30 GMT. We're still in BST aren't we?

Speed of sound decreases with temperature. Also, in the thinner atmosphere 27 miles up there'll be considerably less drag so that'll make him go faster.

As far as I can see, he will be breaking the local speed of sound, but probably not reaching the speed of sound at ground level ( ~340m/s ) at any point.

Justin Lee Colins has been found guilty of harassment of his ex-partner. 140 hours community service. Normally I don't find him funny, but I laughed at that. Horrendous the levels of abuse the court heard.

Juxtaposed is the lad that got 12 weeks inside for a not terribly funny joke.

From what I understand, as soon as you speak your words jump backwards at the speed of sound and buzzcut someone's hair at the start line and provide them with a glass of Vimto.

Youtube is currently managing to reliably feed me a 1080p stream of some purdy sky and occasional wind noise, but there are fewer than 400k (no wait! 630k!) of us watching it (no wait! 200k!) at the mo.

How long it'll last who knows.

Elderly decorated war veteran left to fend for himself by Tesco shoppers, when mugged, despite pleading for help:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-ca ... e-19885252

Quote:
A decorated war veteran said he was "appalled and terrified" when no-one came to his rescue as he was mugged in a Cambridgeshire supermarket car park.

Michael Saxby, 83, was attacked by two people at about 12:00 BST on Friday at Tesco in Bar Hill. They took his bank card and £720 from his bank account.

Mr Saxby said: "If I was younger I would have helped someone in trouble."

Quote:
The pensioner, who uses crutches to help him walk after being injured by a landmine in the 1950s when he was an RAF medical orderly in Malaya, said he had called out for help but no-one had come.

"I shouted at the top of my voice, 'Please help, please help', but people just walked on.

"I thought the man and woman might have a knife or a gun. I was absolutely terrified."

Fucking gutless tossers - a man and a woman FFS! I'm dreading being too old to defend myself against such people; if I'd have been there they would have been wearing broken bottles to their faces and bollocks to the consequences.

Okayyyyyy. Microsoft have made a wrist device that tracks finger movement, and this is the image they've released for it.

No idea; I thought ATMs were limited to £300 per day? Perhaps they managed a second transaction before the first had sufficient time to register with his bank.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I guess he had two cards and £20 on him.

Sadly, I do think that in lots of occasions like this there are people that just assume it is a drunk. If the passers-by didn't see the crime take place I can imagine what some may think. My grandfather once had a mini-stroke whilst on the way back from the local paper shop and collapsed to the ground near the front door of his block of flats, and people similarly walked by when he called for help.

I'm not in any way saying it is right, but I have been told by others many times to walk away and ignore someone, usually an old person, when they have fallen over a particularly bad bit of pavement outside the florists where I used to live. It must have happened four or five times around there, and I was always told to just ignore it (I didn't, but was always told I should have left it as they were probably drunk, and once because an old man spilt all his head open and bled on my shoes). Anyway, some people are just adverse to anything like that whereas I find myself rushing to help without that initial consideration, whether that is right or not.

A bit of an aside, but why do people always say 'ooh, it's terrible, and a war veteran too...' like anyone who didn't fight in the war would either be not so deserving of help, or that it would be a less traumatic tale?

By the way, my grandfather (the war veteran) was helped by a group of teenagers who got off a bus who carried him all the way up the stairs to the door and phoned an ambulance whilst they were helping.

I'm pretty much a coward and would have to be in just the right frame of mind to intervene in a mugging.

Though the other week in Terminal 3 at Manchester airport, I watched a small teenager creep up to a sleeping someone's baggage and carefully start trying to unzip it without waking them. I did stroll over and ask if he knew him, loud enough to wake the other - and yes, they were travelling together and one just wanted a "Haha, you were alseep!" shot of the other, but you never know. Made me feel like an Upstanding Citizen, though, just for a while.

Should the Red Bull Stratos stuff get split out? Though I've been a pain in the arse of that by mixing and matching post content.

Anyway, they're inflating the balloon. Oh fuck it, the wind's picked up enough to abort again.
