Yes. Also, like 'Ticket to Ride', those who know the IDs and goals tend to have an advantage.

The 'Videotape of the creation of the Universe (on Betamax)' still cracks me up every time I see it. And it took me years of playing it until I realised that 'Emily' is a perfect name for a lady Brontosaurus.

Spent £30 today on a new strap and battery for my wristwatch. Could have spent half that on a new one, were I not such a sentimentalist (it was an 18th birthday present from my parents).

He's been dragged to the ice rink to watch my son play ice hockey. He'll be harping to my wife for the next fortnight about how he "caught a chill" from the cold.
Added bonus - the cold has affected him so much that he's gone to his hotel for a lie down.

So, apparently, the drains have collapsed outside the front of the house causing the bay windows to sink into the earth. Which sounds expensive for someone that isn't me.

I'm eating "Mexican Dave's legendary tortilla chips", from B&M. Hot chilli flavour. Bizarrely, they have more of the taste and smell of popcorn or doughnuts than chips. It's kinda repellent.

I've just had a cold call from Virgin media at 8:21 on a Saturday night... Ridiculous!

I sent the lady packing with a flea in her ear. I managed not to swear, but I was slightly angry. We've only just got BabyTheVision to sleep!

I've just spent the last hour chasing a mouse of of the building. Will have to go and get some anti-mouse measures. Joy.

I still can't figure out how it got in in the first place, it's not an old building and there don't seem to be any suitable mouse entry points.

I've there's anything I've learned in 10 years of having a cat, it's that mice appear to be able to fit through gaps around 5mm on a side.

Last week my Ma went to see a "psychic medium" attached to her friend's spiritualist church (and also on the radio). The good news is that she saw through him like grandma's underpants*, but she was saying that while the rest of her friends were having their "readings", his PA was fielding the incessant phonecalls to his mobile. Apparently they'd been getting calls all that morning from some old woman convinced she had a bad spirit flying around her living room and she wanted this snakeoil salesman to come and get rid of it. Made me chuckle anyway.

*My Mam sat close to the door to the room he was doing the readings in, and heard him say the exact same things to at least 3 other people :DD.

Yeah, in a previous house I was somewhat amazed by the ability of a mouse to fit under the doors where there really wasn't much of a gap

Here, they can't, it seems. Although I've also jammed sheets under every door to prevent any movement overnight, just to be sure. and tomorrow will be having a thorough inspection of the skirting boards and the like. along with buying some (likely ineffectual, from past experience) humane traps to at least see if I still have a mouse problem

I'm also a bit bemused as to why. It's not ground floor, there's no food left lying around for them and it's not particularly warm due to me not turning on my heating yet (Nor the person living under me, it seems) so I wouldn't have thought it was ideal mouse territory.

Hoping it was a single mouse and I scared it enough so that it doesn't return. Seems plausible as the cables it was hiding near don't appear to have been chewed, and it got rather frantic by the time it had been herded out the front door.

One of the things I really want to do is get a bat detector and just wander around in the evening, seeing where they are. Amazing creatures - one of my favourite mammals.

From late August until about now we have bats in the evening in our garden, munching on the flies and whatnot, they look tiny (although not as small as the one Dimmers posted up there!

Things I didn't expect to see on Facebook this morning:

A video of my friend's girlfriend stood in the shower whilst he sings the Crystal Maze theme and throws bundles of £20 notes at her.

At first, I thought that said 'bats in the corpse'.

That'd be a great metal album title.

Huh. I've not spoken to my Dad for months (I'm really bad at keeping in touch with people to begin with and therapy... well, therapy hasn't done anything to endear me to him, particularly. And he gave up ringing me, which is fair enough really) but it was his birthday yesterday so I popped round with a card for a chat on my way to a beer festival and asked if he was free for a beer today. "Sure," he said, "I don't think I've got anything on."

Is he answering the phone today? No, no he isn't. And no answer-phone message or text to say he has something on after all.

Oh well. It doesn't really bother me, just enough to come on the internet and write it down, since Hel's in South Africa for work. But I made an (admittedly half-arsed, slapdash) effort. That is, I'm not angling for sympathy, as the "relationship" is pretty much take-it-or-leave-it from my side, I'm just a bit "huh."

Thanks, buddy! Hope you had a good weekend.

Important beer reports: Brooklyn Brewery East India pale Ale is brilliant, as is "I hardcore you" soemthing from Brewdog at 9.7%. This has nothing to do with my feeling a little peaky this morning.

We have a Brewdog pub in Nottingham. It's ace (this is coming from someone who likes cider, rather than beer!).

They do a stupidly strong beer that they serve in a tiny whiskey glass. It's about 20% and tastes like liquid marmite.

I had two halves of the strong beer (one of each) then switched to Leeds Pale for the next few. We did a bit if the quiz in a pub, but there was a 'draw a comic strip' round, which was stupid so we went home.

Holy crap, I've been doing some research for a friend who's kids want horse riding lessons for Christmas. The place rated as the best riding school nearby charges £33 per half-hour, plus £2 helmet hire for individual lessons. (and they won't let you take cheaper group lessons until you can basically control the horse on your own) 70 quid an hour! And we complain about the price of video games.
