Just when Cras first started on GTA, I bought shares in a paint company. I'm now a gazillionaire.

Bear in mind, I'm new to this and not exactly the best GTA player but...

Last night I became a CEO which involved buying an office and then a warehouse in a public game. What I can see happening so far is that I hire my friends as associates (Because of this, I get to chose their clothes too). Then I have to get on my computer in my office and buy some containers. They could be narcotics or guns or stuff like that.

I then have to go and find said container (even though I'm paying for it...) and then after I've picked it up I have to travel across the map and drop it off at my warehouse. Once I've done this several times and my warehouse gets full, I can sell my stock in the warehouse for big profits. (an exmaple being that last night one box cost me $2,000 which I could then sell for £10,000)

Any time I'm out and about carrying boxes or dropping them off, other people in the public game can see my whereabouts and they can ambush me for big rewards. Also, you get NPC attackers on the way but they're pretty easy to out run.

And this is it so far. I make a fair wedge of cash off the shipments and my associates get paid. Everyone's happy!

Cheers Vision that sounds like it might be alright, I'll drop the cash on some CEO headquarters and have a play about. Now we've done all the heists we are after new shenanigans for multiplayer.

In my Armored Karuma no one will be able to take my boxes off me.

Post subject:  Re: GTA V - stand aside, pretenders

To be honest, I didn't encounter much resistance when I was transporting the boxes but your mileage may vary.

Also, you don't always get to drive your own car. Last night we stole a truck and a van but you will be able to buy a massive armoured transport if you fancy. You can get loads of boxes on that.

Post subject:  Re: GTA V - stand aside, pretenders

Excellently one of my well-heeled chums has made this problem go away in that he bought a $3.5M shark credit card (which I think are £25-£30?) and then got his CEO headquarters. (Also, an armoured limousine with a minigun, because of course you would, right?)

He has found the same as you Vision in that initial activities at least seem to be largely restricted to box collecting and putting them in warehouses.

Still, that'll do for us, so our session this week will be in the employ of our CEO chum and we'll just see what the game chucks at us.

I thoroughly expect us to fight to the death first, arguing over who gets to use the minigun on the limo.

I still fondly remember the night we spent about 4 hours trying to drive a truck off the roof.

You have to steal a massive cargo helicopter and use it to winch a truck to the top of the tallest building. You all get in and then drive off, to much hilarity.

Especially when you spend hours blowing up the helicopter and truck before you achieve your goal. I took a different helicopter, flew to the roof and laced it with proximity mines. I recall with glee hearing APOD saying, "Wait, what are those flashing things?" As they landed on the roof :DD

I normally approach that airfield from high because of the mountain range and always forgetting its closer than you think. That was a little higher than normal though.

That video is also missing the previous try where APoD attempted to barrel roll a cargo plane at approximately 150ft with predictable results.

Also the previous try after the previous try that Cras is on about where I did a barrel roll at about the same altitude and speed bit with a bit more pitch, and came so close to crashing that it was scraping the white lines off the road.

They Gaywood confused me about my landing gear and I stuffed it on landing.

I think the first time Nase got in the plane with us it was like his third mission ever. We all bailed out just before the runway (over a certain level you can buy a parachute) and he took over flying, with predictably firey results.

Post subject:  Re: GTA V - stand aside, pretenders

I've started playing through this again on new PC with ALL THE SHINIES.

I still have all my saves from last time because of 'CLOUD WIZARDRY' but I'd already decided I was going to start from scratch and do it all again.

Also, this time I'm fucking about a lot more, so where as first time around I was quite focused on getting things done and moving through the story, this playthrough I'm taking my time and deliberately doing things wrong, to hear all the extra dialogue when you don't do what's expected of you or fail to perform actions in a timely fashion. (Failing a mission through fuck-aboutery doesn't carry much of a penalty as they're generally quite generously checkpointed.)

I'm not that far in and have already heard piles of stuff I missed completely first time around, although a lot of the time it does cheap out and go straight to a 'MISSION FAILED' screen.

Even though the game is a few years old now I don't think anything's come close to creating such a complete world with such compelling stories and characters. I remember when I finished my first playthrough having that 'Breaking Bad' feeling, y'know, like everything else is going to seem a bit crap compared to this going forward.

Finally, it's almost impossible to over-emphasize how impossibly gorgeous the game looks with everything cranked up to max, even though I upgraded my graphics card just to play this game back in 2015 (from a GTX670 to a GTX970), I still couldn't max it out by quite some margin - whereas now I can and it's genuinely breathtaking.

It'll be interesting to see what Rockstar do with GTA6, as that'll be a true next-gen GTA, whereas GTAV was a 360/PS3 game (well, sort of, I played it on the 360 and fuck me it was rough). Definitely one to look forward to.

So you can apparently buy an orbital cannon in this game now. It costs half a million in-game dollars to fire ($10 real-world money).

It’s a bit sad what’s happened to this game, IMO.

He did however buy a nightclub, and we spent three hours getting blackout drunk, waking up in random parts of the city in weird outfits, then going back and doing it again.

If you buy in-game currency then sure. But I’m sure you can build it up naturally during missions etc. Cras says it’s chump change now.

I dunno, the single player campaign was massive and you played multiple characters throughout. It was certainly larger and more entertaining than GTA IV pre-DLC. I think they’d done everything they could with that story, whereas the IV DLC was definitely warranted.
