Lone rider out front. Took off from the start, with 200km to go. Lolz.

So he's the most likely to be the winner then? He's in front - that's a good thing isn't it?

Big crosswind potential today though, which will hinder the leader, but could also split and delay the chase.

Sagan disqualified! That's bold. Not seen the videos but apparently from one angle it looks fine and from another vicious.

All the talkshows here and belgium talking about it... think sagan was punished too much, but the first punishment was justified..
..

boring stage though for the rest of the stage.

tomorrow should be fun

Post subject:  Re: Tour de France 2013

It's a pretty blatant block though, right? You can argue that it might be a bit harsh, but Cavendish has a broken shoulder and is probably lucky that it isn't worse. Sagan makes a clear movement to the side... it'd be a bit shit to barely penalise him at all (initial punishment just takes the final points from this one stage) when he's taken a rival out of the whole Tour and threatened his career.

I know some people were saying he had a hand in an earlier crash too, but I haven't seen that one.

Post subject:  Re: Tour de France 2013

There was a lot of movement to the side, of the road, but Sagan looks to be following a wheel as Cav tries to get through to follow the same. There's often leaning and so on. It's shitty for Cav, but shouldn't be a DQ.

Anyway, Thrilling Heroics tomorrow, I reckon.

Is Pinot saving himself for Bastille Day?

I shall defer to your superior knowledge re: Sagan/Cav.

Inr Ring says

Quote:
Sprints are regularly full of tension as riders fight for wheels and space and there’s frequent contact and danger, both voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary as in almost nobody wants to harm a rival but they have to defend their position and push for openings, all while travelling at 60km/h. This time Mark Cavendish tried to come past Peter Sagan. Sagan put an elbow out… but this seemed to be only after Cavendish was tipping over, as if Sagan was reflexively trying to correct his balance and trajectory rather than bodycheck Cavendish but the jury didn’t see it this way. The irony is that Sagan stayed upright and this gave the impression that he downed Cavendish for his advantage but had this been another rider perhaps they’d have fallen after tangling with Cavendish and the commissaires would not have been so zealous?

BREAKING TOUR NEWS: FROOME DISQUALIFIED!
Just in from TdF 2017 the UCI has announced that Team Sky leader, and 2016 TdF winner, has been disqualified by his actions during today's Stage 5.
"In the view of UCI and Tdf Officials," an anonymous official said, "Sky Rider Chris Froome was deemed to be riding too fast uphill during today's stage. His excessive speed obstructed other riders from passing him. I mean he might as well have put out an elbow or something, it just wasn't fair to slower and less talented riders. So he's out!"
Rumors are circulating that there may be other disqualifications announced, but it is estimated that officials will have to disqualify about 60-riders before they get to a Frenchman that can actually climb

Not discussing it.

Kittel out after a crash, everybody attacked Froome and it was a bloody superb stage. Yates has a GT win in him.

Post subject:  Re: Tour de France 2013

good to follow the tour from norway, heard about mollema's heroics on 1000+ meters high.. still, the tour goes a bit down in a snore, still very sad Valverde didn't make it to day two... and the contenders couldn't get near sky.. some giro tired (Q,pinot), Some with weak teams (Are, bardet).. still at least i could cheer for a dutch stage win and the sun web team (which is sort of dutch)..

And I'm standing only 23th,(of 45) in the local tour predictions pools..

Did you guys listen to Lance's podcast stages? very insightful..
