Yes it is a good one, well supported, and music etc... I might come up to watch depending on my training |

Training Day 2! I have started to dress like Kov. Did 3.4 miles in 28mins 51 seconds. Strava crashed so you have to trust me. It is flatter than a witch's tit, though, so I could go much quicker. |

MaliA wrote: 28:53 today. Same time as run number one. Two minutes faster than run number two. I think you said you're training for a half marathon, didn't you? If I've remembered that correctly, I would be aiming for distance (or time on feet) over speed at the minute, then throw in a fast run every now and again. Obviously feel free to ignore me but that would be my tactic |

Not been under 13st in about ten years and now down to 13.5. Obviously it’s quite a good motivation! Cut down on sugar since I went back to work last week and it’s made a big difference. Lost my Xmas weight already. |

Zardoz wrote: I'm guessing your job must help with burning off extra calories too. Yeah. I lost 2st when I quit drinking then put half a stone back on when I started again. Then lost it again when starting the job, then put it back on over Xmas and now I’m back to where I was pre-booze. |

That is seventeen weeks away so I thought I would spend a few weeks getting back into the feeling of it all, then after that on a Monday do thirty minutes easy pace, Thursday forty five minutes at a pace, and then a longer run on Saturday. |

I've been getting more knee pain lately the day after a run. I think it's probably going to turn out to be arthritis since I had an ACL replacement about six years ago and apparently arthritis will follow that surgery more often than not within a decade. Fucking great. Anyway I'll get myself a physio appt at work first and they'll be able to refer me to the consultant if needs be. |

Trogging 13.5 stone around three and half miles in half an hour almost every other day is taking a toll. My back is now fine, just right knee and ankle are going south 27minutes five seconds for 5km today |

Something I heard that rings true, is that your cardio capacity improves quicker than your tendons, joints, etc. So you may start to feel good quickly, but then get into trouble if you get carried away. Or you'll just have to be carried away. Take it easy. If you feel good enough to run, try - genuinely try - to do the same distance, but at least 5 minutes slower. Still a cardio benefit, less pressure on everything else. And varying pace is good, even if you feel a bit odd slowing down. |

25:49 for 5km yesterday, though. I reckon there is another 50 seconds to find at some future point. Might do 10km Sunday morning to avoid in laws unless park running the day before |

Getting there. 56 minute 10km and I am feeling OK at the pace. Felt I could have done another loop without too many issues tiredness wise. However, picked up a blister in each door, so will look at sock selection, and some more chafing so I will retire the shorts. |

Went to see my consultant yesterday for the results of my MRI, good news is that the surgery is still holding up fine, less good news is that there's signs of arthritis which was pretty much what I was expecting. He said to stop running and take up cycling or swimming or rowing. But I loathe cycling as exercise, it's the opposite of relaxing with all the cars everywhere and also I hate people who clog up roads because they want to use them as a fucking gym while everyone else is just trying to get where they're going. I also hate gyms and am not overly keen on swimming. So I'm just going to keep running and possibly look into a rowing boat. |

I know it's fresh at times but at least there's no traffic. |

Upped my weights a bit at the gym and increased resistance on the bike. Stamina definitely improving and noticed my heart rate isn't getting as high as it used to which is a good sign. |

Grim... wrote: How about cycling off the road - mountain biking or BMXing? Yeah, I can just go out my door and run, though, half an hour or and hour and that's it. It's flat as a pancake round here so it would be a day out kind of thing plus I would probably just fall off and wreck another limb. |

Yeah there is that, but even then I just don't enjoy it the same, I like the headspace from running, cycling even on there you're having to think about what you're doing a bit. With running all you have to do is keep half an eye out for dogshit. |
