Managed to beat my own best 5K time at lunch today. Got round in 22:34. Happy with that as a 46 year old with gammy knees.

I've entirely lost my motivation for the usual weight sessions over the last week, but I'm seeing my personal trainer next week for the first time since before the apocalypse so that'll sort me out. Mostly because he'll give me a new set of routines to do at home; having done the same thing for months is almost certainly what's sapping my resolve. I'm really not looking to getting on the 'lie detector*' again though given that the last time I was at the gym I was in pretty good shape (relative to my usual fatness).

*A body composition scanner they have in there which gives you loads of interesting data like muscle mass, body fat %, etc. Fuck knows how accurate it really is but it's interesting nonetheless.

I have scales that do that, not sure how accurate they are.

I'm 99% sure this is the model that's in my gym:

For £6K it's hopefully decently accurate!

I think the scales are complete tosh, from my understanding, but the actual big body scanners are vaguely more accurate.

According to Strava, I did my fastest ever mile this morning. A blazing 9m 11s! Call Guinness!

The true good news is, I can run a mile without coughing my asthmatic lungs up at the side of the road!

Excellent work, it feels good doesn't it. If not at the time then at least when you finish.

It is starting to feel better. I've had a long break during lockdown, but I've got more opportunities to run now.

Went out for a long steady run yesterday and ended up doing a half marathon or as near as dammit. Slightly annoyingly I stopped the clock a just few paces short because I thought it was 13 miles but it's actually 13.1. Felt good, though.
