The more important question is: streaky or back bacon?

I went to a place called Meat in Glasgow for dinner the other night which people (i.e. Craster) might be interested in. It's your usual array of tasty meat-based dishes as the name would suggest, but their seriousness about meat extends even to the cocktail menu with such things as the 'meatojito' (pork-rib infused rum with mint, brown sugar, apple juice and a caramelised pork-rib garnish) and various bacon related drinks. Annoyingly their online menu only covers the food so I can't find the full list anywhere. I did turn up a picture of one though which I need to link to as it's too big to embed apparently:

Oh hello! There's a chain of bars down here we spend a fair bit of time in that does a bacon bourbon sour that's very close to that Suckling Sour.

To my eternal shame I didn't actually bother trying one of them (we were only in for a quick burger before the Mogwai gig) but I definitely fancy it. They do actually do a single type of veggie burger so I might be able to convince Mrs B to go in with me sometime and I can give one of them a shot. That's unless the single veggie option conflicts with her recent to desire to go full on sodding vegan.

this may appeal to some (Craster). Got an email from the Hawksmoor yesterday, their third burger is now (marketing spiel incoming):

From Monday 10th March there'll be a new Third Burger at Seven Dials – the Five Pork Burger. Working on the assumption that more is always better, we've topped a Tamworth pork patty with sausage meat stuffing and a couple of slices of smoked bacon. On the side there's sausage gravy for French-dipping and a couple of extra-long pork scratchings. To balance it all out we snuck in some Spring Greens which brings a little Sunday Roast into the mix and a dollop of homemade apple ketchup.

:DD

Sadly I can't commit to anything for certain until after my wife sees the doctor. But it sounds like a trip is required.

Though it's the Hawksmoor, so I'll probably cave and get a steak anyway.

Pay attention to the use-within on the bacon jam.

Definitely don't open it and leave it in the fridge for a couple of months before thinking "hm, this bacon butty needs more bacon".

it may have benefited the flavour, but it didnt benefit my bowels.

I'm not sure anything made by a company called Eat 17 would benefit my bowels. Let it rain.

Highlights so far include snapping a bit off, but it not fully detaching from the main bar as it's attached by bacon.

So they didn’t live in a sty, like most pigs. How very modern.

I can’t really eat bacon any more. I like it, but a couple of hour later, it doesn’t like me.
