I got the information from putting my cookware on the hobs and them not working.

I found one saucepan and one frying pan that worked, because they are cast iron and not aluminium. Anything with a coating won't work.

Electric does not necessarily mean induction. (but it is the best form of electric hob)

Basically, pans have to iron based, as its done through magnetism. Although I believe notall steel pans are usable for some reason I don't know . (alternatively you can have an in between iron plate, but that's daft)

Unless it somehow blocks the induction it should be fine. I've not had any problems with coated pans.

Cover the hob with a piece of iron and use your old pans.

The base of your pan has to be at least 9% iron or something.

Our previous induction-compatible pans were tefal ones where high-iron 'pads' poked through the low-iron stainless steel base; worked fine but our new cooker said that's really bad for efficiency and also can cause hot spots that can damage the glass.

Newer le creuset pans are solid high-iron bases and we can boil water in them faster than the kettle, but flecks of iron keep going rusty in the dishwasher. Ridiculous warranty will help there.

Our jam pans also work; the old one is difficult to keep boiling and can confuse the hob but the base is warped slightly so I bought a new same-model one and it's fine.

I stayed up to the VERY LATE time of ten to midnight trying to catch up on Amazon TV. As I have been eating rubbish food for a week when I sat on the toilet I done a MASSIVE WHIZZPOPPER that woke up Bang and she wouldn't settle. She also woke up Crash who decided my bed was better. At one in the morning I went dowe stairs with Bang and we watched The Grand Tour until two when I pit her down again. As I had no bed space, I slept in Crash's bed until six when Bang woke up again and here we are.

Today is my mother’s 60th birthday. By coincidence it’s also her brother’s wife’s birthday. They have the same name, my mother and aunt, and both turn 60 today.

Anyway, as they were both hitting a big birthday they decided to go out for a meal last night, which is quite a big occasion due to my mother’s mobility problems. My mum, her husband, my uncle and his wife, to celebrate the women both turning 60. A really nice thing. Except on Friday evening, the day before the meal that has been organised for quite some time now, it was dropped into conversation that it would not be just the four of them as had been said up until now. No. The table had been booked for 17, because my uncle’s three children, their partners, and their kids had all been invited and this has been arranged for weeks. These are my uncle’s children, not his wife’s, but it’s kind of galling that my mother did not have any of her kids or grandchildren there, nor the opportunity to invite them. She would not have assumed it just fine to invite her entire extended family when it had been planned just for four. That she only found out less than 24 hours to go before the meal, is telling.

I’m not annoyed for myself. I couldn’t have gone at the moment as my health is too poor, but I’m annoyed for my mother, and annoyed about my uncle. I don’t like the way he operates.

The kicker, however, is that they brought out a surprise cake. It was iced with my aunt’s name, and SURNAME, because you wouldn’t want to accidentally want people to think that the cake might also be celebrating the other person there with that same name.

It is making me feel sad as she said that she felt very overlooked last night and that it wasn’t really her birthday at all.

That’s correct. It just works its way sideways but is very difficult to get back into the correct position. They’re like those metal puzzles you get in Christmas crackers. It happened on my several zips on my last pair of work trahziz and is a bloody nuisance. These are relatively new and this is the first time it’s happened. Why they don’t have the round loops on them, I don’t know.

I bought a cheap USB charger off eBay a few years ago and whilst I've been dubious of it, it's worked flawlessly.... Until today.

I've just plugged it in only for it to 'pop' and smell funny.

At least it didn't burn my house down with it!

They've fiddled with the settings of the toilet lights at work, so that they go off after about 5 mins of inactivity. The sensors don't catch movement in the cubicles, and the office is quite empty right now as we're in the process of moving, so foot traffic isn't enough to keep them on. Therefore, even a relatively brief gaming session will result in the lights going off, leaving you in a cubicle in total darkness.

We have this problem at home.

The really annoying thing is that the sensor is right by the door, away from the cubicles and slow to react. There;s always the chance that someone else will come in and find you walking across the toilet in the dark.

After we had our bathrooms and downstairs toilet redone last year my wife asked me to get rid of the string that controlled the light in the small toilet

The slight issue was she waited until all the work was done! So I had a sensor fitted that turns the light on when you go in, it lasts for 20 seconds and even when I'm sat on the toilet it won't pick me up until I wave my arm in the air.

My son refuses to use it as he rightly calls it the dark toilet

So waiting until I have some cash and replacing it with a heat sensor, also doing this with the lights at the front of the house as they come on all the time when the wind blows bushes and annoy our guests in the downstairs room.

We've got one that you can set how long it stays on for and adjust the sensitivity.

The problem with that is for 9 trips out of 10 to the loo it would be far too long.

I don't understand why you just wouldn't have a pull cord. I'm going to get it changed as soon as I can.
