It was good. I was sitting on the wrong side of the hard camera, so I don't expect to see myself on TV.

No-one knew who DH Smith or Paul Burchill were, which should make me sad but realistically they are both shit.

I got my picture taken with Katie Lea :luv:

I had never heard of Paul Burchill until now. He's alright, isn't he?

I remember seeing Burchill on FWA stuff on The Wrestling Channel, ( they had a tiny ring, and a tag team who were, I shit you not, a pair of chavs) and he looked humongous.

Ahem.

Boo-urns.

Well, it had to happen eventually.

:(

At least on the wrestling forums I frequent, I backed HHH to win in the 'betting game'.

Now that I've got access to Sky I've watched a bit of wrestling for the first time in years and well, not a lot has changed has it? Random baddie on the outside turns up, gets the refs attention while the baddie in the ring gets a few cheap shots in. Ref later gets clobbered 'accidentally' while the baddie has the hero down for a 3-count. Ref makes miraculous recovery just in time to count the hero's 3-count though. Phew.. handy that.

Safe to say that I've grown out of wrestling.

I happened to look out my window the other day at a local friendly game. A bunch of scruffy halfwits running around aimlessly, a couple of scuffles. A dog ran on at one point. Safe to say I've grown out of all football.

I didn't know your window overlooked Birmingham City's ground! :D

Seriously, my home town team - Stafford Rangers - are relegated this year, from the Blue Square Premier to the Conference North. So next season, we're an entire division away from the league. Consequently, the admission price for an adult went down - from £12 to £11! And people wonder why attendances are falling...

As a fellow Staffordshire type (since relocated to London), I once played in a youth match at Marston Road.

:)

On the subject of wrestling... ummm... can't think of anything to say other than MVP is the awesome.

If I could pay just a reasonable couple of quid, I'd go most Saturdays to watch some match. The Molyneux is about two feet* away from me. But there's no way I'm taking a chance on it at about £15 a pop.

Anyway, this is the wrestling thread, not the football thread. :attitude:

Ah, see, I must have been going by some 'ONLY £15 A MATCH! When a family season ticket of no less than 2 years is purchased.' or summat. Shame really. Reading Mark E Smith's new book has made me all nostalgic for crappy football grounds on the cheap.

I can't think of any footballer/wrestler hybrids. Weirdly, as they've had evil hockey players before now.

One of the times they were in London, I'm sure that Jose Mourinho got involved in some fashion...

I've never seen an American Football themed gimmick either, maybe because half the guys in the business are ex-football players. The Rock, JBL, Lex Luger, Monty Brown, Goldberg, Ron Simmons... I'm guessing most wrestlers played in college, but some played professionally too.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan (another ex-footballer) used to do a three-point stance before his finishing move. It was about the most interesting part of his act...

You could argue that he prefigured the 'Attitude' era and specifically The Godfather, though. Duggan was always crying out for some ho's.

Ever since Duggan came back (you read that correctly... he is actually on the active WWE roster) he has been used almost exclusively for yelling 'HO!' at inopportune moments.

Stupid fuckers. If I was Vince, I'd use him as an alarm clock.

Or a bookend. He's immobile enough...
