Things I have learnt this afternoon:

£15 wireless USB thing from Maplin works straight out of the box, solving wireless problems
Until MrsA decides to stream something as she's doing the cooking and talking to her mother on the telephone. At which point, nothing happens
'Road closed' signs are clearly advisory
On a 1:10 incline, the Ka will hold 40mph in 2nd gear without the need to touch the brakes
Until MrsA starts reminding me how the road is closed
Put the lid on the compost before putting it in the rear seats of Ka
Drinking starts at 2pm for my cousin's 40th. Will also involve Morris dancing. FUCK YEAH!

The window cleaner has chosen this moment, whilst up a ladder outside my bedroom window, to take the world's LONGEST phone conversation. I'm out of the shower, forgot my towel, clothes are in bedroom. I'm in the hallway, freezing cold and dripping wet with the throw from the sofa wrapped around me :(

He's got a text from your previous window cleaner who was wondering if it was worth moving his whole route / house / etc to stay with you as a client.

Haha, no, I liked my old window cleaner. I haven't met this one. I've been doing my best to avoid him actually. Like today!

That was horrible. Fleece throws on wet skin feel strange. Felt colder holding that around me than without. Considered dashing to the kitchen for a tea towel to dry myself with before hearing him finally stop talking and clean the windows before leaving. Better now.

Ticket to Ride - Nordic Edition is really, really good with two players. It's racked up the tension and stratagy elements massively. I recommend it. i'll proabbly buy the US version, too, increasing the number of sets in the house to three
.

British Government looks to safeguard British Grand Prix with new riot control weapons. From plastic bullets to strong smelling paintballs, nothing was "too off the wall" to consider.

:this: I woke up yesterday with a bad hangover from boozing on Sunday; however, I was still throwing up at midnight and I've been rough all day today, so I think it's more likely to be a bug now. Either way, I just want to be back in bed.

Been to chiropractor, who has done well to loosen my neck up a bit but says it needs to do the rest on its own, with help from Biofreeze gel and my cold gel pack thing out of the freezer. If it doesn't get better I can go back later in the week, but I am definitely going back next week because this was possibly the worst it's been since I started going there over two years ago.

How the hell did I sleep Saturday night to do this to myself??

*medicates with beer and wasabi peas*

I did exactly that a few years back, and it took well over a week to heal itself. Annoying. I could turn my head in one direction absolutely fine, but the other was eye-watering agony. Stupid bodies.

If it's "just" muscle strain you need to hit it with diclofenac or similar and rest up as soon as you feel it going bad, then there's a chance it'll be better the next day, instead of getting worse and immobilising you for days. 's what I found anyway.

Wasabi peas and beers sounds like pretty sound medication too though. Hope it sorts itself out soon.

Yeah, that's exactly the problem I've had for the last few days. This made driving to Scotland and back interesting, not being able to turn my head to look around at roundabouts and things :(

Is that series 8? If so I've watched them. Very good they were too.

Guy with the horns is Loki, and presumably one of them is Heimdallr, but I'm not too familiar with Marvel's interpretations of the Norse pantheon. I'll ask some fellow spods.

You know when the magnetic pole flips over, does it happen in a gradual way or does it just go 'ping!'?

If it happens gradually, what route does it take? Does it wander over the earth before settling?

It goes over gradually, that's why birds often get lost on migrations, and aeroplanes don't fly in the straightest London - New York line.

huh, what? But it hasn't happened since the time of planes, has it? Or do you mean it is happening now? But we are still settled on magnetic north, no?
