"Economics solved. Next problem, please" says 11 year old dutch kid, presumably before purchasing tulip bulbs.

Why doesn't a global corporation buy all of Greece as part of a debt for equity deal, then make them produce iPads until it is paid off/profitable? That'd solve the worker's problems in China and greece's too. I'm way clever than an 11 year old Dutch kid.

Does anyone know how to get BT to fuck the fuck off phoning you to tell you the local exchange has been upgraded to fibre? Over the last 3 months or so I've had at least 8 calls from them about it, and even telling them this doesn't stop them phoning again in a couple of weeks time.

Swear and shout lots and lots and they'll put you on their shouty customers list.

Might not be the best for customer relations, but I bet they don't phone you for a bit.

I'm too polite for that. I just sigh and cut them off in the middle of their spiel and ask "is this about the fibre upgrade again?"

I'm gunning for "buy their fibre service".

I take it you're asking them not to call about it again?

Nope. I tell them exactly the shitty service their ISP provided me with before and how I wouldn't re-sub with them even if they gave it me for free.

We only get calls about 'that accident you've had' from people with very thick Indian accents called Nigel and Matthew. I used to politely tell them 'no', we weren't interested, but the same place keeps calling so now I just put the phone back down. I wondered if it was just rude (yes, it is a bit) but its also rude that they keep calling when I've asked them not to.

oh, you're not with BT? Try and sell them something back, then. Anything... A green sofa for example, or a book on African place names.

Shirley they have a database or something of what people have said to them before? I'm on the caller preference scheme to stop cold calls, too. Seems a bit rich that BT themselves can just ignore that.

Are you with BT for your phone line, or anything? If you are, then they're exempt from the requirement to not call you based on the fact that you have an 'existing commercial relationship'. As I understand it, anyway.

I tell them the person they're asking for is dead.

Might not work if you already pay for a service off them but it works on the forrin callers.

Now this one's just stupid. I'm an introvert, not the pissing Rain Man. Stop conflating this stuff with OCD or high-functioning fucking autism. Stop trying to pathologise every personal trait, you cunts.

(To be fair, the last two are alright.)

I'm fucking sick of it being discussed on the BBC every other day.

That list would be far better titled "how to raise your kids", IMHO. My mother would always give me warning before we were gonna leave the playground/go out for dinner/whatever so I was never taken by surprise and upset by said activity ending. We then got to share a mutual amusement at mothers who would come over and more or less drag the kids off the slide or swings with a "we're going now!" and the kid becoming hysterical.

It isn't a bad thing to do though as Perkies says, it is good general advice and also makes a differentiation between autism and being "simply" introverted.

There is actually a lot of confusion about autism, they may be distant or in a bubble but the one thing a lot of them don't lack is confidence. The boy may not speak but he does not give a fuck what people think about him, if he wants to go jump on his trampoline stark bollock naked then he will do so. Of course every one is different but as a general rule autistic people can't read people, so if they are higher functioning then a lot of them keep quiet in social situatios as not doing so may cause them to make a mistake. You have to give them answers in black and white as sarcasm is lost, they also don't really take offence. So if they have offended you then you have to outright say "I didn't like it when you said that as it was rude and hurt my feelings" and they will make a mental note for next time. You do need to give them warning and a plan of action so sudden changes don't freak them out though.

The girl (asbergers) is the same when it comes to social situations, those of you who met her would have seen that she does not recognise the difference between adults and children and is absolutely confident in everything she does any insults or meanness from the little bitches in her class go right over her head "you don't want to play with me, ok I'll just go off by myself or ask the teacher for a job then", but change does not bother her as she does what she is told by anyone. (strange thing with rules, the idea of breaking rules or being in trouble freaks her out to the point of hysteria)

That's the problem. I didn't actually see any of the fallout from this yesterday, but Russell asked what the fuss was when reading Twitter, and I read this page that someone linked to this morning:
http://jezebel.com/5898848/yes-samantha ... ing-us-all

The problem is that she is in no way unattractive, but she's just 'normal'. She is not a traffic stopping beauty, and The Daily Bile know that.

What I wonder is does SHE know that? I think she does, and I think it was a planned and cynical attempt to stir up a story out of nothing, and I think (hope) she's in on it. If she isn't, then I pity her. And if she's convinced herself that her looks are driving friends away rather than her attitude then that's a sad delusion. But no, she must surely be in on this.

Anyone who did react in the 'omg what a bitch, ugly blah blah blah' manner that the Internet apparently exploded with have written the Daily Mail's next story for them.

I hope :this: I still think she's a bit stupid for it, mind.

Even if she is in on it, she's going to have a lot of shit to deal with now, thanks to the ridiculous drama of a backlash that's come about.

That Samantha Brick thing is absolutely incredible. Just... I don't have the words. She's utterly deluded to the possibility that people don't find her attractive. Her Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt analogy was terrible as well. I don't think people would give a shit if Angelina Jolie announced that she was hot.

I honestly don't think they've clever enough for it to be an elaborate troll.

The New Yoker's recent piece on the Daily Mail includes a lengthy profile of Martin Clarke, the editor of Mail Online. The whole piece is worth reading, if only for an interesting American take on this very British newspaper.
