Hi,
I seem to be unable to access my PMs (as, you've removed it from me). This creates a big problem for me, and others on this board. I can't say anymore without breaching privacy*. I'd appreciate their return, especially in the absence of any kind of apology. I doubt there are others similarly affected.

* I doubt you'll believe me, or care, but then, that's who you are.

Ah, you're being children. Still. Alright then. Well, for those who need to stay in touch, my address is: [email protected]

Good luck, and remember: it's just a forum on the internet. I shall miss thomsedavi the least. My massive and insatiable ego demands that you all either write tearfully at my passing, or gather to laugh and make really obvious and not actually witty comments that suggest only mean spirit and a lack of ingenuity, but do require a half-decent memory (so, well done you). Apparently.

Dude, what?

If you're having a problem with PMs, that's one thing, but you seem to be assuming someone has purposefully deleted and/or blocked your PM box, which nobody here would do. Not even the evil Rev Stalin went that far, and it's what most of you all came here to escape.

Some people asked me to stop CUS from being able to PM them. I asked him to stop so I didn't have to bother, he said "no" (not in those words, but still). I'm now in the process of hacking in a "don't let person 'a' message person 'b'" addition to the forum, and for the time being I've stopped CUSs PM's from working at all.

Oh, well, while a PM block is a reasonable feature if you're not keen on someone, but do you need to block him completely while you work out the code? Unless he's dementedly PMing people constantly, it seems a tad overkill, chap.

It's me that's gone mental. It's always the individual who is wrong.

Yes, I have been spamming everyone with offensive PMs. This may be due to my constant heavy drug intake* or being hilariously actually a bit mental, or simply me continuing the same forum-hating, World of CUS attitude as ever!

Duhhhh.

It's not because of that then? So... is it because I mentioned Eastenders over Corrie? I dunno. I'm not psychic.

This surely can't be just down to one person's petty feud with me, despite the fact that I *genuinely need* to stay in contact with some people here, for their sake? Not billions, just a couple, for another couple of weeks or so. Because I can't understand why one person would automatically just 'get that', unless... well, I can speculate but you'd just call me crazy.

No, you said that people had complained that I was sending them abusive PMs. Which isn't true. I sent one person two angry PMs asking them to please explain their previous and inexplicable abuse of me, including the assertation that as far as this board is concerned, I don't have the same rights. That's neither abusive, nor is it to more than one person. And it was yesterday.

You told me that said person wanted to hide away from me all nice and safe now that they had got their last word in, and wanted me to stop PMing them. Given that their behaviour was blatantly abusive, and specifically vindicative, I said 'no'. Churlish of me, but damnit, I'm sick of being singled out, and I don't see why I should HELP them. I note that if I was in fact 'sending people abusive PMs', I could have done so very quickly (you know fast I can post) to that person (or 'people' as you now claim, which is INTRIGUING and I believe simply untrue) to 'get the last word in'.

Except, I didn't, and I haven't now that you have returned my PM facility. Nor do I intend to, though I imagine you've programmed it in so that I couldn't.

Grim... wrote:

But simultaneously, making things worse for me. You can see the bind I was in.

Quote:
Well, you believe wrong.

Oh, I can well believe that various people have complained about me. Certainly. And it's a darned good thing that I never complain about anyone, let me tell you.

In any event, Grim... you certainly can't be saying "In the past, people have complained about you, so bad you", because well... I already went down that path yesterday. I think we can all agree today that it's a bad idea to consider the past, and instead to only consider the very recent past.

So! With that in mind, Grim..., who are these people who want to not get PMs from me? Given that they could, as far as I know, simply make me a 'foe' and thereby ignore me across the board, no pun intended. And given that I would have PM'd them yesterday or indeed, quite recently anyway. So presumably, I was rather unpleasant in my PMs.

So, let me know please, because honestly, I don't remember sending any unpleasant PMs lately, and it's probably a good idea if you let me know so I can change my ways! Probably best to tell me in private though. I always avoid naming names, to my disadvantage.

No - read the thread. I took the PM privileges (look carefully at that word) away while I was making the changes to the forum that would allow people to stop getting PMs from others if they chose. I tried to solve it amicably, but I couldn't. I was always going to turn his PM stuff on again. Turns out that Malc knew how it could be done, so it's done.

Also: "on the sly, behind the scenes" modding - CUS was aware of what we were doing. How else do you expect us to do things - should we check with you first?

I certainly think that CUS should at least have been told that he was about to lose his PM ability before it actually went ahead so that he at least knew what the hell was going on, either in an email or PM (actually, no, PMing him would make no sense), but if he were sent an email regarding it first, fair enough, he didn't say.

If you are able to block people from PM-ing you then that should be written in the rules/FAQ area and mods should instruct people to do it themselves in the future, pointing towards the FAQ so that this doesn't happen, because you don't want this place going the way of WoS and not to at least explain to CUS that his PM ability was going to be suspended seems unfair (if that is what happened) and too much like that last days like was What WoS Was (also the name of my new band...)

You should do it by magic, and only after a 4 week vote and the consultation of goat entrails.

As usual, no wrongdoing has been committed as far as I can see. Certain access was restricted while changes were made.

Although it raises the point that we should perhaps have a status link somewhere up near the logo where upgrades, technical gubbins etc can be listed. Like Demon used to do when you fingered [email protected]. You'd get a list of ongoing stuff. I'm not talking about another pinned thread either. Just a simple text link at the top.

I've passed trying to be helpful. This place is descending into a clique-run hidey-hole corner of the internet. We've had near enough 200 users for a month now, with very few new people arriving. If I were a new guy, I'd see nothing here to entice me into the numerous debates on what I've bought recently, who I'm going to the pub with and various other nonsense.

Apologies for "popping out of nowhere", but this place just hasn't turned out how I expected it to. I don't think any one person is at fault, but maybe the WoS haters had a point. Maybe our little gang is a cunt-clique.

Because he did log in then, and I can imagine you would find it quite distressing if you logged in and couldn't access your PM account for reasons you didn't know. I think you have to assume that the person is going to log in at that time and prepare for that, in case that actually happens and any undue upset is caused.
