So for next year .... how much do you think your going to spend
Do you think the Vita will do it for you ?
Are there big games your going to grab on day 1 - or are you going to wait for the magic £20 mark ?

Post your estimate here and try and keep track of just how much money your throwing away when instead you could be outside !

Last years thread : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6653

Grim... has made a counter which will tally up all the things you buy so you dont have to keep track yourself , you can simply enter any price you pay and then click on >this link< to get everyone's total

I have gone for £200 - £300 which was my guess last year (even though i overshot it by quite a distance) for whats actually announced so far (Bioshock Infinite / Mass Effect 3) i'm not that bothered - I assume there will be a new COD at the end of the year and i'll get that but nothing else is making me think "BUY!"

List for 2012 so far :

<£13> - Rayman Origins (bought from another forum before it started to drop to £15 in all the other places - early January)
£2.98 - BulletStorm Epic edition from Gamestation (March 7th) - Cancelled - i re-ordered and it was cancelled again
<26.25> - 4200 Xbox points
<3.99> - Sega Dreamcast Collection
<£5> - Humble Indie Bundle V
<£1.19> - Binding of Isaac in the steam sale because LewieP keeps going on about it
<£5> - Humble Android Bundle
<£15> - Lollypop Chainsaw
<13.45> - Batman Arkham City
<20.16> - Metal Gear Solid Collection
<20.50> - Sleeping dogs special edition
<14.86> - Catherine
----------------------
Running Total : £138.40

I also took a pile of older Xbox360 games to "Game" when they re-opened and they were giving the price + £10 for every 3 titles, which gave me around £100 in game credit - that has been used to buy Bulletstorm (and trade it back in again) , Mortal Kombat 9 , Street Fighter Vs Tekken , and around £45 worth of itunes cards - I've not added that to my total but it will explain when I look back why my overall number is as low

I've also gone for £200 - £300 - but if a new Xbox comes out that's going to be drastically wrong.

I'll be keeping up my LoveFilm sub for this year so that's £72. And maybe this year I'll finally buy a PS3 for some Demon Souls and Team Ico goodness. So I've gone for the £200-£300 option.

Post subject:  Re: WongaWatch - The Grand Game Expenditure Thread 2012

Yes, all depends on whether I get a PS3 or not. I probably won't though, and will save that cash for the next Xbox now it's only 1-2 years away.

I'll probably spend around £400 if no new console, but will probably be around £700 again if I get a PS3/new Xbox. Where's the poll???

Post subject:  Re: WongaWatch - The Grand Game Expenditure Thread 2012

I've gone for 200-300. I drastically cut back my game spending in the second half of last year, spooging tons on camera stuff instead. Circumstances this year mean that I'm going to have to be a lot tighter on the purse-strings, so I think that estimate may even be a bit high. Hope we don't see a new Xbox until Christmas 2013 though, otherwise I may be in trouble...

Post subject:  Re: WongaWatch - The Grand Game Expenditure Thread 2012

My 2011 spend was £130 including three out of four full-price games which are to some extent broken, so I'm stopping with second hand stuff unless something with the quality of Halo Reach comes along, which it won't. I'm certainly not rushing to get Mass Effect 3 or whatever - the only thing one can justify to buy at launch is multilayer-based stuff nowadays.

I'm saying a hundred quid tops, being as most of the back catalogue for the 360 (that I'm arsed about) has now worked its way into or through my collection at some point.

Actually GTA 5 is out this year isn't it? I'm having that.

New consoles and such hold no appeal whatsoever.

Post subject:  Re: WongaWatch - The Grand Game Expenditure Thread 2012

I've gone £300-£400, though I'm going to be trying to keep it a lot lower than that. I've got virtually zero interest in the Vita and seem to very rarely have time for much games playing now anyway. I've barely touched Skyrim (seriously, I've played it for maybe 30 mins tops), so I'm going to be making damn sure that anything I buy will actually get played.

Post subject:  Re: WongaWatch - The Grand Game Expenditure Thread 2012

I've gone for £200-£300. I don't see me buying a new console next year - the only possible exceptions being a PS3 or 3DS, but at the moment I don't see a compelling reason for either. So I'll pick up Arkham City at some point and anything out of the ordinary like Dark Souls, but the rest will probably just be cheapo Steam stuff. I need to spend next year playing some of the games I've amassed.

Post subject:  Re: WongaWatch - The Grand Game Expenditure Thread 2012

I went for £300 - £400 last year, and definitely overshot that.

Since the Wii-U is out this year, and I've got a bit more money than I did last year, I am going for £800 - £1000. If a new Xbox is out, I'll probably get that, and I might even get a PS Vita, although I think I am going to hold off for the first hardware revision.

I have a son or daughter on the way in 2012 so I guess that means I won't be spending as much time playing games.. Although, buying them takes no time at all.

I reckon I'll spend £800-£1000... just don't tell the wife.

Probably about a tenner or so on mobile games, I just ordered a copy of the 3DS tales game, got Dead Space 2, From Dust & Space Pirates And Zombies on Steam when on sale, and a copy of God of War 3 in the GAME sale for £3.

Total spend: £50.

Edit: Toying with the idea of getting a PS Vita whilst in the states (they're $250/£160, compared to £210 here), although in the unlikely event of the new iPad being out already, I might get one of them.

Zero Gear - <£1.49>
Aaaaaaa! Awesome - <£1.74>
X-Com Pack - <£3.05>
Nation Red - <£2>

and Jagged Alliance 2 on GOG for <£3.28>.

So a massive £11.56 up to now.

I've been more realistic/honest with myself and gone for £300-£400. Even if a new Funsquare SuperPlusPlus comes out, I won't be buying it.

I've bought Demon Souls for £25 and GTA IV in the recent sale - £14.99 I think. Not that I've spent more than three hours on them in total yet.

The new SSX is coming up so that will be definitely be on the list.

Post subject:  Re: WongaWatch - The Grand Game Expenditure Thread 2012

Current 2012 spend: <£3.91> on Android games. This, this and some DLC for this if anyone's interested. Where's My Water is one of the best mobile games I've ever played so I'd totally recommend it to Android and iOS folks.

I've got shitloads of unplayed games to get through (current count is 14 full boxed games); so much so that I've taken the decision to completely stop buying stuff until I get through the backlog. Even when I do buy stuff I'm usually swapping old games out for a fiver at the local games shop or just waiting for things to drop down to a tenner before picking them up. The only deviation from that policy is of I see XBLA games drop in price because that's usually a temporary thing so I grab them at the time. I've still got 700-odd moon points kicking around though so even that odd XBLA game won't cost me that much extra. And even if a new Xbox or PS3 came out this year, which seems very doubtful, I'm determined to get through my backlog of current gen games before I move on so I'm predicting I won't spend money there either.

So, let's assume a few games at a fiver, maybe a few at £10 to £15 and some Android games spread throughout the year. Add a bit on for surprise new excellent games that I can't wait for and that puts me in the £100-£200 category.
