We've got some great news- we've worked out with Microsoft a way to award the Xbox 360 version of the Twilight Zone table as a reward to our backers! You'll need to already own the Xbox 360 version of the Pinball Arcade to have access to the table on the 360. If you've pledged at the $10 level we'll contact you as the ship date approaches asking you which platform you'd like the table on (including the 360). If you've pledged at the $100 level you'll get the table on every platform (including the 360) as well as the access to the Table Operator's Menu on every platform (including the 360)! Kickstarter doesn't allow us to edit the text of the rewards, so unfortunately the language about the 360 version not being available as a reward will remain (but we'll post a clarifying FAQ).

That's splendid news, I'll lob another $10 at them.

I'll be donating tomorrow - pay day!

In other news, the two tables for "June" are:

Monster Bash and Gorgar:

I can't wait for the first 360 tables to drop. Then at least we'll presumably start getting new tables every month, even if we are a few behind.

Gorgar? Jesus......

A thoroughly average table that's only historically interesting because it was the first to feature sampled speech.

Monster Bash is fab though.

The idea is historical significance, though, isn't it? They're releasing an absolute bollock-load of tables, so you're bound to get some that are more for posterity than pure gameplay fun. I guess.

I take your point WTB, but seriously, that's all Gorgar has going for it, 'the first pinball to feature synthesised speech', as a table it's really, really average.

It's already 'preserved' via VP and VPINMAME, I don't think a 360 release adds anything to its legacy.

I suppose not every table can be an awesome one, but there's SOOOOOOO much to choose from I'm sure they could find something better to do than bloody Gorgar.

It's not preserved by VP or whatever, because they're unlicensed and illegal. One of the goals of the Pinball Arcade is to preserve as many pinball tables as they can, legitimately.

I dunno man, I'd trust VP and VPINMAME to survive more than I would the Pinball Arcade.

What happens when the XBox 720 comes out (or the one after that) and old XBLA games stop working, and the old 360s start breaking, so they can't even be used offline any more?

I've already 'got' Gorgar preserved forever, I have VP, I have VPINMAME, I have the ROMs and I have the table file - no one can take them away or stop them working.

Gorgar is already "preserved" in Williams classics and it's a fairly dull table - its the first one I don't think I will buy.

Got an email from the Kickstarter, looks like TZ is in the bag and considering how successful it's been, they're eyeing up ST:TNG next!

Having played this table for a bit now, it's incredibly easy to throw away a multiball in just a few seconds.

Also, when you hear the bit of speech as 'Shoot for the magic drunk', you can't un-hear it. :)

Latest update

http://www.facebook.com/pinballarcade/p ... 7484096984

Quote:
Here's a status update on new tables for our long-suffering console fans!

The first table pack (Medieval Madness and Bride of PinBot) will be released for the PS Vita on June 12th, and for the PlayStation 3 on June 26th.

The second table pack (Cirqus Voltaire and Funhouse) will be released for the PlayStation 3 on June 26th and for the PS Vita on July 3rd.

We have been having difficulty getting Microsoft to approve the new tables for the Xbox 360. The problem centers around a little-known Microsoft limitation of 4 MB on the size of the title update for the game code. We can package the data for each table separately, but the code for the new tables is larger than 4 MB and must be in the update. We have finally convinced them to grant us an exception, so we'll be resubmitting all 4 new tables tomorrow and rolling them out to you just as quickly as we can. We'll announce the date when we know it.

The European versions of the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita games will reach the end of their certification cycles this week. We hope to have dates to report to you very soon.

Thanks to everyone for your patience as we work to get these released- we know how frustrating it is to not be able to play these great new tables. We apologize if sometimes it seems we're slow on releasing information, but we don't want to give you a date that turns out later to be wrong. We do read every post, email, and rant.

Thanks again for supporting us!

I'm not sure I like the way they've tacked the ST:TNG Kickstarter onto the backend of the TZ Kickstarter.

Better to have let the TZ one run its course, put the surplus cash 'into the bank' as it were, and start another one for ST:TNG.

New tables out for IOS and Android

Monster Bash and Gorgar , they have however changed the prices round a bit and Monster Bash is £2.49 on its own , or its £2.99 for both - so only 50p to get Gorgar.

Curiosity got the better of me so I dropped the 69p (I'm such a spendthrift) and had a look at it on our iPad2.

It's a bit bloody good innit?

Looks luscious, runs perfectly, all present and correct - I swear we live in times of fucking Voodoo, there's no other explanation for a lot of the kit we just take for granted every day.

The ios version is currently free (includes the Arabian Nights table). Might be interesting for anyone waiting for the 360 dlc - there are demo versions of all six dlc tables.

You may want to repeat that - as things were gearing up for a release again but they have had the program rejected again

http://www.facebook.com/pinballarcade/p ... omments=39

Quote:
Unfortunately it's not going to be this week- we just got word the Microsoft rejected it AGAIN. This time it was for a single "bug"- if you download a new table to a memory card instead of your hard drive and then pull the card out of the 360 while attempting to load that table, the game becomes unresponsive (although you can still exit and restart- it hasn't crashed). This behavior was present in every other submission to them but they didn't flag it until now. We'll try to argue our way out of it, but unless we succeed we'll have to resubmit it once again. We're sorry for the continue delay- we're more frustrated about it than you are!

As if they've tested it for something as obscure as that?

Do you reckon they found it by accident?

I'm sure this was also the reason that Spelunky (or something else) was delayed so I think its just a standard test now (and something very obscure - if i pull out memory cards while things were happening i'd *expect* it to break)

Exactly right. There's warning splattered all over the place too so even if you do do it, you SHOULD have the game crash on you.

They do test for something as obscure as that. It's part of the standard checks. And because of that, inhouse testing should have caught it before submission.

It's something that is required for the indie games which have a much lower threshold to get released.

Anyone pulling anything out of or plugging anything into a games console whilst it's busy doing something deserves to have it explode and kill their families anyway.

I want to like this more than Zen Pinball on my iPad, but by refusing to add Facebook for leaderboards, it means I have to be a 'guest' in my own game. Wish they used Gamecenter...

Does the 360/PS3 versions use the normal console stuff for leaderboards?

Really want the new tables for this. Can't get the hang of going back to the iPhone version since playing on the 360.

I should play the Ripley's table more and learn it.

Yeah I've tried it on our iPad (the Arabian Nights table at least which was free at the time) - it was very impressive but it didn't have the same feel as the 360 version.

I'm getting really itchy feet for the extra tables now though, the crazy option might just be to get a fucking PS3 and play them on that :blown:

So far Ripleys is the one table thats never clicked for me - however i've been happy with the other tables on the ipad - should be another two out 'soon' (probably within the next week)

This has been updated. I haven't a clue what changes have been made, as I've only just switched it on, but I see the dot matrix display is actually made up of dots, now. :P

iPhone and Android update is now live

Black Knight does just look the same as the previous release (cant see anything obviously tweeked) , and Creature from the Black Lagoon is not a table I remember playing before but seems okay to begin with - £1.99 each or £2.99 for both

Another change is that its now linked up with gamecentre for scoring / achievements and it wants you to create a 'farsight' login at the start (no idea what it will do later)

Also seems to be some point collection thing when you get scores on other tables (you've earned 13 points etc) - again not sure what they will do with them.

** EDIT ** - hmmm , unlike TOM which automatically uses the magic save magnets if your ball is going to drain down the side Black Knight wants you to press the buttons however they have put them at the very top of the screen next to the dot matrix and camera controls which basically means your never going to get to them in time :-(

Their latest is an update on all versions :

https://www.facebook.com/pinballarcade/ ... 9695059096

Quote:
Update on all platforms as of 7/28/2012:

iOS - An update with DLC Pack #4 (Creature from the Black Lagoon and Black Knight) was released on July 27th. This update includes Game Center achievements and a Hall of Fame leaderboard as well as a login method that doesn't require fb (also implemented on the Android version). We are hoping that Apple allows us to have more than a total of 10 leaderboards via Game Center. Once we get this ability, we will be able to improve the Game Center support.

Android - An update with DLC Pack #4 (Creature from the Black Lagoon and Black Knight) was released on July 26th. We are very excited about the potential that Google is likely to feature our game again soon.

PS3/Vita - Add-on packs 1 and 2 are currently available in North America. Add-on pack three is in submission with add-on pack four to follow close behind. The SCEE add-on packs are scheduled to be submitted at the earliest date possible. There's a wait to get into their QA. We hope to get all add-on packs available world-wide within a couple months.

360 - An update that includes both DLC Pack #1 and #2 has been approved. We await the add-on release by Microsoft. DLC Pack #3 will be released closely behind packs 1 and 2. DLC Pack #4 will be submitted soon.

Mac - DLC Pack #4 has been submitted and will be released as soon as it is approved. Mac OS Lion is required for DLC purchases. There is nothing that we can do about the OS restriction.

PC - While we know this news may disappoint our fans eagerly awaiting the PC version - we are still working on the PC game. We will not released it until the graphics are at least up to the standards set by the 360 and PS3 versions. We also still need to find distribution partners (traditional desktop and/or cabinet). Our goal is to everything sorted out in time for the Twilight Zone release later this year.

3DS - We still have not obtained the performance we need out of the 3DS to run our ROM emulation. We have not given up. The 3DS version is on hold until we can dedicate more time to this R&D.

Wii/Wii-U - FarSight developed 12 titles for the Wii. Unfortunately, the Wii isn't powerful enough to run Pinball Arcade. We are very excited about the Wii-U. The Wii-U project has been set up and this version is in development at the engine level. We hope to release our game as close to the launch of the platform as possible.

Cheers Zaphod :)

Wonder why the PC version is taking them so long, just out of curiosity really as I'll be getting all the DLC on 360.

Are they up yet? My 360 is over on the big telly at the moment where it's not connected to the network and I don't want to go scrabbling around the back to change the network cable over from the media centre PC if I can avoid it......
