Not only will you watch it all but you'll probably watch it multiple times over the year. I genuinely seriously never watch anything twice but I've watched all seven seasons of the West Wing three times through now.

I'm incredibly jealous, you've got seven seasons of incredible goodness ahead of you. Well, at least four seasons of incredible goodness followed by another three of 'still better than most of the stuff on TV'.

Just two episodes left. It's been a hell of a journey. The show definitely stumbled when it lost Sorkin, and it's telling that none of the characters introduced after that are as interesting to watch as the starting cast. It recovered, to my mind, in S6 and S7 (although the viewing figures didn't reflect that).

I'm certainly going to miss it when its gone.

Probably the funniest thing I've ever seen that's not a comedy, too.

Agreed on all points.

Remember, the very next thing you watch needs to be ep 1 of The Good Guys, without finding out anything about it.

Yes, I know, and I've already found out a very small amount about it. We might take a break from serial TV and watch films for a while though.

Mrs Grim... and I are a couple of episodes into Season 2, and I love it. The end of season 1 / start of season 2 was goooood.

CJ is my favourite. Donna is also my favourite. Toby is also my favourite. Josh is also my favourite. Sam is also my favourite. Leo is also my favourite. The president is also my favourite. Mrs. Landingham is also my favourite.

Can't sell the wife on it without at least a tiny bit of knowledge! I read, like, the first three sentences of the Wikipedia page or something. It really wasn't much. It actually turns out I remember reading about the show from the time, anyway, so it wasn't a complete surprise.

Next catchup-TV show is likely to be Studio 60, though. And Sorkin's new show is on in the summer, hurrah!

It may be the best show I've ever seen that created a group of characters I really, really want to hang out with. The way it brims over with bonhomie (combined with the whip-crack razor-sharp dialog) is what really make the show stand out for me.

This has probably already been mentioned but it was originally conceived essentially as a vehicle for Rob Lowe but evolved into a more ensemble piece very quickly, presumably when Sorkin et al realised how good the entire group was. I like Sam well enough but I'm glad it went the way it did as it just wouldn't be the same if everything was focussed on a single person to the detriment of the rest.

I don't know if we covered it here, but I've certainly read this elsewhere. Indeed, this initial structure is why Rob Lowe was paid more than the other actors

which resulted in various pay disputes and ultimately his departure from the show.

I would so much like to be Josh (obvs). I suspect I'm more Toby, though. I was ranting about someone's incompetence the other day in work and I caught myself subconsciously adopting Schiff's staccato delivery and rising pitch.

I had the strangest dream not too long ago.

There was a book signing where Toby was promoting his autobiography. He stood to take questions from the audience. A woman stood up. "Toby, you claim this is your autobiography, and yet when I open the jacket I see that is just a pile of Mr. Men books stapled together."

For a moment Toby looks trapped, like a rabbit in the headlights. Then he rallies and with staccato delivery and rising pitch responds, "Well... that is the point. I am all the Mr. Men. As we all are. I'm Mr Grumpy. Mr Happy. Mr Strong. Mr Sneezy."

And then a man with a voice not unlike The Simpson's Lenny cries out from the audience. "Hey! This Mr Man has a big nose!"

And Toby waves his arms and shouts out in despair, "I'm a self-hating Jew!"

I still can't work out if this is an anti-semitic dream or not. But I had to write it down immediately on waking up.

Also, Toby is awesome.

There's loads of those. There's at least two Josh Lyman ones, and a Donna one that

(spoilers for the end of the show)

It's a little creepy, frankly.

Meanwhile, one of the Bartlett ones spends all his time commenting about real-world political matters, often making some excellent points.

While that's a great reminder that brings a smile to my face it's such a shame that an image just can't do justice to the best thing about that scene (and countless others) and that is Martin Sheen's delivery. He absolutely steamrollers her, his cadence and power are so fucking impressive. If ever an actor was made to give speeches, it's him.
