Ah, I wondered why you haven't been on :(
Is it coincidence you and M0usr lost Internet at the same time?

Since I don't have internet at home I don't know :-)

(moving house and BT will not actually have the phone lines 'on' until next Friday :-( )

You dont need to be on the paid elite to do it you can just sign in and check

** edit ** at work so cant easly cut n paste from the webpages but

https://elite.callofduty.com/career/xbo ... yercardmw3

You've played 58 hours of MW3 split up as 13 hrs sabotage / 8 hours team defender / 7 hours HC team deathmatch / 30 hours 'other'

And you've played 129 hours of BLOPS 60 hours HC Capture the flag / 13 hours HC Headquarters / 12 hours Capture the flag / 44 hours 'other'

My split between the two is 194 hours MW3 / 422 BLOPS but the BLOPS stuff will not include hundreds of hours playing ZOMBIES

Those stats are awesome. Cheers Zaphod.

I'm loving sabotage at the minute, mainly cause I want whatever tiny emblem I'll get for winning 50 matches. Only 4/5 more matches to go.

I'm surprised how compulsive the titles are all over again. They could do with some better challenges though to make it worth while.

It is a newspaper. It informs people of events, past, present and future. You can also fashion them into hats, boats or use them to help light a fire.

It's the Sunday Times using a picture of the man from CoD to illustrate the 'rescuing people from Africa that didn't quite work' story.

It's a Sunday Times article about a failed special forces hostage rescue mission. They've chosen to illustrate the article with a large picture of what they presumably believe is a special forces soldier, but is in actual fact Soap McTavish. Considerate of them to put the privacy bar across his eyes, mind.

I've regularly wondered how they know where they are going with such impaired visuals.

The new maps joyfully allow more sniper play. Three brill-o maps and one that didn't come up much but was ok-ish. Awesome.

Since Robert Bowling (https://twitter.com/#!/fourzerotwo) has left it seems no-one bothers to actually tell people about new stuff and there are 2 new maps out 'yesterday' for Elite members

http://www.examiner.com/arcade-game-in- ... -sanctuary

Quote:
Elite premium members on XBox Live got a surprise content drop on Tuesday, April 10 consisting of two new maps. Oddly, these two maps came with little notice and none of the fanfare Modern Warfare 3 players have become used to over the past few months. No week-long teasers or Rob Riggle trailers this time.

Foundation takes place in a cement factory. A fairly small map in overall area, Foundation contains plenty of tall structures and towers to make up for it.

If you like camping and sniping you will enjoy Foundation. If you don't you'll likely curse the map each time it shows up in the pre-game lobby. There are small areas on the sides of the map that allow for a little run and gun action or camping, but the majority of the battle takes place center stage and long range across the middle of the map.

Foundation is another MW3 map that lacks attention to detail. Upon my first entry into the map I discovered that I cannot blow up the trucks and vans parked on one end of the map or break the window in the office at the top of the tallest tower. While such things make little difference to overall gameplay I am still bothered when Call of Duty games expect us to believe that the windows are sometimes made of Kryptonite or something.

There are fuel tanks on both sides of the maps that can be blown up, however.

Sanctuary is a better map in terms of gameplay and is quite beautiful. Those who like to camp in a corner for ten minutes and claim to be a professional gamer will have their chances, but the narrow halls and sharp corners in the map make it more of a run and gun battle. The only real place for those who like to lay on their belly and snipe is one tall staircase with plenty of angles for enemies to break up the party.

One neat shortcut exists near the middle of the map where players can land on a small ledge across the side of a canyon and run underneath a bridge to the other side. In early gameplay this route was a fun way to surprise enemies or escape harm. The pathway is very narrow, however. Navigate carefully or you will fall off and meet your maker.

While the unexpected new content is nice, and Sanctuary has its moments, neither new map adds much to Modern Warfare 3 in terms of gameplay. In the end all we get is a little more variety in terms of scenery. If you are a PlayStation 3 player and/or a gamer that didn't put down the dough for the premium Elite service you shouldn't feel as if you are missing out.

http://www.mw3blog.com/modernwarfare3/i ... -off-mode/

Quote:
The developers of Modern Warfare 3 revealed the new Content Collection 2, and new DLC details. Along with the announcement, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games let it slip that they’re introducing a new mode called Face Off. Since then, there was not enough information about the mode other than the fact that the mode will release around May 15th, and will come with two new maps. They also said the mode would be comprised of small team games.

In a separate trailer released by Activision, the developers of MW3 went into detail about what Face Off entails. Face Off is a game mode that pits one or two players against one or two players. The Face Off mode itself will be released on May 16th on Xbox Live first, and as usual, the other platforms follow suit. The two maps that release alongside Face Off are Aground and Erosion. And then, two more maps will be released on May 22nd. Anyhow, enjoy the new trailer…

http://www.t3.com/news/new-cod-mw3-face ... -next-week

Quote:
Developer Activision is set to continue its run of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 content expansion with a selection of new maps, Spec Ops missions and game modes to be introduced next week.

Following recent trends and kicking off with a period of exclusivity for Xbox 360 touting Call of Duty Elite subscribers, the flurry of new content is to land in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection 2.

Bringing non-subscribers into the mix, next Tuesday, May 15th, will also see all Xbox Live utilising Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 gamers be offered the chance to download two new Face Off maps completely free allowing gamers to dual head-to-head in the new gameplay mode that will see 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 close quarters combat brought to the franchise.

For those looking to add the full array of Content Collection 2 goodies, the new Face Off game mode will be paired four new Face Off levels entitled Getaway, Lookout, Erosion and Aground as well as multiplayer maps Oasis and Foundation.

As if all this wasn’t enough, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection 2, which will land for Xbox 360 Elite subscribers on May 15th before being rolled out to non-subscribing Xbox gamers a week later, is to feature two new Spec Ops missions entitled Mission Kill Switch and Iron Clad.

That first set of Spec Ops maps were pretty cool, y'know. One of them has you rescuing hostages in a favela. One of you starts tied up waiting for your partner to rescue your ass as the executioner goes down the line blowing the heads off other the hostages. I really enjoy the spec ops but my spec ops potnar hasn't got the patience for them.

Well, rented this as I've been ill. Finished it today.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
It certainly is a fitting conclusion to a series that's gotten increasingly ludicrous with successive instalments. Every single level is some kind of ludicrous setpiece, and often with an even more ridiculous conclusion. The Eiffel Tower being knocked over without a hint of irony by the US near the climax of their campaign Oorahing All Over The World says it all.

Remember the horrible Brazillian levels in MW2, where you had a maze of ugly tin shacks and men popping up from hatches and windows and doorways to kill you? More of that in the Africa levels! Did you loathe bits like the dank gulag? That's back too, with lots of bad lighting and large rooms to get shot from 20 different directions in.

The various international settings look great but don't stand up to any sort of close scrutiny ("Exit" instead of "Way Out" in the Tube station, dozens of US licence plates and lefthand drive vehicles in London) and seem more based on the dim memories of a member of IW's trip to Europe ten years ago. It's like the uncanny valley of level design: the closer they try and make it like the real thing, the more the niggles stand out.

The story still doesn't make any sense... while I grasp (which Yahtzee didn't) that the gas attacks take place two months after Russia pulls out of the US invasion, it doesn't explain why terrorists... allegedly aligned with Makarov who is wanted by the Russians... set off gas bombs to enable a Russian invasion of Europe? Even assuming the Russian military could regroup from their defeat in the US and replenish the huge amounts of ordnance and equipment expended there, wasn't the Russian government suing for peace when the President was captured?

When the plane crashed I almost wished they'd used Putin so he could lift an entire detached engine nacelle off himself and emerge, barechested, from a crater brandishing a PKP and start gunning down terrorists. Still, while Putin has two daughters of jailbait age, nobody knows how pouting they are or are not (their photos haven't been published).

Soap dying... meh. He was a bit of a personality vacuum anyway (his only good line in the game was croaking "who the fook's Yuri?" over the radio) and Yuri was substantially more badass. Team Metal dying seemed obvious but was dragged out... coincidentally as Yuri was, onto the helicopter. You'd think there'd be a door-mounted minigun on that helicopter which would have solved the problems instantly.
Price, of course, survives. I suppose they didn't want to anger the Arabs by admitting the hotel at the end is meant to be the Burj Dubai.

As with the previous games, the trick isn't so much to fight as to kill only enough to run to the next safe spot so as to trigger your allies to push forward and the enemies to stop spawning. Bits where I got stuck (the top of the elevator in the hotel, or the large courtyard in the Czech castle) were circumvented by just throwing a flashbang and then running like fuck to the next solid object.

Multiplayer... I haven't tried. I just played one quick game of Survival to see what it was like, and it's jolly fun. Good, satisfying, chunky fun. Disappointed to see the return of the ludicrous dogs, but otherwise it seemed good.

Dogs are only in the Survival type games (and possibly Spec Ops). Thankfully there are none in the multiplayer.

Had a go of online multiplayer, and alas it's more of the same with new frustrations added. Exploding decoy care packages!

Played up to rank 10 to give it a fair attempt, and unfortunately the game still seems lightning fast and lag dependent. I played against one guy, EmileHeskey XD, who was virtually unkillable. He could move fast and change direction even faster, and when you did manage to draw a bead would absorb almost an entire clip before firing back once or twice and killing you. As with the previous games, it felt like no matter what you tried, someone had a perk or trick that effortlessly countered it and served up your goolies on a silver platter. Lots of people running and gunning with one-shot sniper rifle kills too.

Still, it has a few things I wish BF3 had: namely the ability to skip the post-death killcam! The movement also still feels much more fluid than BF3 ever did.

I've enjoyed myself overall but doubt I'd want to play it long term.

Decoy packages are one of the better additions. Besides, play Hardcore you fagnoob etc.

Dirty dirty dirty!

We would have had some fun with the Survival Mode and Special Ops, but competitive multiplayer remains the preserve of teabagging fagnoobs with dog-piloted attack helicopters that shoot dogs that bark and shoot bees.

Had a go of online multiplayer, and alas it's more of the same with new frustrations added. Exploding decoy care packages!

Each 'perk' or upgrade has a specific anti for it - the booby trapped care packages show up in red if you have Sitrep perk however after you've done it once you tend to realise that care packages which sit around for more than a few seconds are booby trapped so if you dont have sitrep and dont see someone from the other team trying to get the package then you should ignore it (BTW the booby trap thing came in in black ops and i think its handled slightly better here)

Played up to rank 10 to give it a fair attempt, and unfortunately the game still seems lightning fast and lag dependent.

If anything MW3 is worse than the previous ones for lag and some games you'll start and realise your never going to win if you go head to head with people which should be your cue to change the way your playing and avoid the run'n'gun stuff as much.

MW3 also seems to vary a lot with the patches they put out - there was a period about a month ago where easily 80% of games were a waste of time and so laggy it was unplayable - and its varied quite a bit since but Black Ops seemed to handle the lag problems much better.

BTW Level 10 means your still missing out on some of the better perks and 'ideas' on how things work - the Specialist strike package for example or the unlocks for Support (your probably not quite at the stage of unlocking rapid fire for an SMG either which can make a difference if you like running around the battlefield like a nutter) - and the Sheild class is pretty poor until you unlock some of the later perks.

That sounds more like lag for that player - however there may also be other reasons (if you saw an icon at the bottom of the screen pop while shooting him it would signify he was wearing a bullet proof vest which also helps shrug off ranged bullets really well and I would say is 'broken' at the moment as the last update seems to make them overpowered for such a low kill streak)

You didnt say what modes you played - if you just tried TDM then your missing out on a lot of other quick and more entertaining modes (Infected can be fun as can 1 in the chamber or gun game)

Just TDM and FFA. A lot of the other stuff is locked to start with.

It's due to go back to Blockbuster tomorrow anyway.
