Sunday for me.

My parents are taking the wife and I out to see it because it's the wife's birthday on Monday.

Must avoid spoilers until then.

Swines. I am skint AND bedridden. I hadn't got excited upon seeing a film trailer for about six years until last week.

I loved Indy films nearly as much as Star Wars films as a kid, but after the (obvious) soul destroying disappointment of The Phantom Menace, I really don't want to be kicked in the balls like that again.

Come on Spiely, do us proud!

Dare I say it, but I prefer the Indy movies to the Star Wars ones. Also, I'm very good at being self-delusional, I was able to come out of The Phantom Menace having convinced myself I'd just seen a really good movie worthy of the Star Wars name 'cos thats what I wanted it to be dammit!

I pray I can do the same tonight - by all accounts it hasn't been getting the most glowing reviews.

I'm not particularly excited.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
The trailer and all press so far has been more about OMG INDY, without actually suggesting whether it'd be a good fiilm, which seems only doubtful to me. Furthermore, the entire enterprise seems more about some kind of spin-off franchise starring Shia LeBouf. Who is good, and I like him, but... eh.

Just booked tickets for Sunday at the Gallery in the local Odeon.

Gallery means £16 per ticket, but unlimited nachos/popcorn/drinks before the film and superior seats above the cheap and nasty plebs below. We usually arrive an hour before screening and gorge ourselves silly. It's nice.

Unlimited Nachos? I'd be disappointed if I couldn't scoff £16 worth of nachos in an hour in order to get my moneys worth.

At a cinema? That's a grand total of about fifty nacho chips, isn't it?

and popcorn, and drink, and mega-good seats. Don't worry, we definitely get our monies worth. The nachos come with a giant vat of melted cheese sauce and salsa. :smug:

Children under 12 can see 12a films if accompanied by an adult/guardian.

You can go see it. 12a is "Persons under 12 must be accompanied by an adult." you are an adult right?

Not as good as Mario Van Peebles. Particularly as you can have extra fun with that by pronouncing it "Peeblees!"

Went to see it. Had 3 trays of nachos, two boxes of giant popcorn, about half a gallon of diet pepsi, and a very large bag of quality street. All for £16.

Oh yeah, there was also a film, which was ok. It was hard to watch it all as my vision was consistently obscured by my shovelling large quantities of food into my mouth.

Went to see it at the O2, in unexpectedly awesome balcony seats. Thought it was a decent Indy film, and enjoyed it lots.

I really liked the bit at the end, where Shia LeBeouf was about to pick up Indy's hat and put it on, in a 'ooh, he'll be the new Indy!' moment, then Harrison Ford snatched it out of his hand and put it on his own head.

I thought it was ace, and enjoyed the many excellent action adventurey stuff bits.

HOWEVER

I managed to pretty much ignore the heavy hints towards "oooh, aliens!" until the end, when it turns out that it's all because of the CUNTING CGI ALIENS and their CUNTING CGI FLYING SAUCER. The heavy, heavy hand of jowly-faced George Lucas, there. I can imagine the conversation with Spielberg:

Jowly the Twat: Steve, Steve, I want to write a bit of the film. Pleeeease?

Saintly Steve: Well, we're pretty much done, George. We've packed in all the most excellent action scenes we could. But we've got a spare ten minutes at the end. If we let you do do that bit, how would you end the film for us?

Beardy Cunt: By doing what I do best, Steve - putting in POINTLESS STUPID CGI ALIENS PULLING STUPID FUCKING FACES. Hooooyeah!

Sad Steve: Errr...

Gurning George: *waves chequebook*

Steve: *sighs* Okay, George. Can we take my name off the credits?

FUCKING BRILLIANT.

Absolutely loved it. We haven't stopped talking about all the ace bits since getting out of the cinema. "The ace bits" being the whole fucking movie, basically.

I am so pleased and relieved.

There was a pseudo-documentary on about a year ago where Giles Corman and one of either Sue or Mel had to eat an Edwadian diet for a full week. Curried lamb chops for breakfast, whole roast pheasant, that sort of thing. Corman, in a video diary segment, pointed out that after two days of five meat-heavy meals a day "even [his] eyes were fat". He delivered this line with a glass of port in one hand and a turkey leg in the other, mind you.
