Awesome happenings occurred during tonight's quest. The darkroot garden is great for farming souls from the human opponents that guard the area. Of course I sidled up the cat queen and joined her crew before swiftly chucking a fireball in her mush.

Humans who have wronged the crew will meet terrible vengeance from phantoms but I didn't expect three human players to enter the world at once to tag team me to death. I was sliced to bits by a samurai sword while the other two stood and gestured at each other. One would point and the other shrugged as we danced the dance of death in a merry circle besides them. Weird that they didnt want to pile in on me but I suppose they could see I was getting my arse handed to me and didn't fancy making me look a bigger fool than I already looked. Which was nice.

I can't imagine I'll be trying that again anytime soon...

Anyway, level 49 and one more to go.

Found another path in the Darkroot garden last night that was concealed by a shuffling tree! It lead to the corpse with the Wolf Ring that had been bugging me for a while as to how to get it.

Managed to get further into Sen's Fortress last night too. Bloody harsh in there.

Keep going, it'll be worth it in the end.

I've managed level 50 and can swing all weapons now except this large mallets mallet that needs some miracle power. Great Dragon Axe is, um, a bit shit. It should be a stone cold killer but, for reasons I cant figure out, it doesn't hit as hard as the lightning stick. The stick is 300 plus lightning and the axe is 540? Plus it's soo slow. It does have this cool two handed move which sends out a blast that pushes enemies back but does sod all damage. Hnnnngh.

The GF bought call of duty. Played a couple of hours before Dark Souls called me back.

Have a +10 halberd now and killed the hydra (really easy, surprisingly). 30 mins far better spent.

I don't know what just happened then. I'd left it idle while doing something on the laptop until I heard a noise on screen and my armour sprouted spikes! I was wearing all Havels set and holding his shield and, um, just happened.

I changed his kit like a muppet to see if I could reproduce it but now it won't happen. Hnnnngh. The wiki's make no mention of it so I don't know what occurred or how to make it do it again. Frustrating! It was cool 'an all!

Found it. I'd pressed R2 by mistake with Havel's shield equipped. It gives you armoured skin!

I don't know why I want to keep playing this when I haven't got started on MW3 yet. I must have played a couple of hours of the multiplayer and campaign combined but I just want to try the catacombs shortcut by leaping in that coffin. After that no doubt I'll want to try something else I missed first time round too.

It's especially good fun murdering the NPC characters after you've took what you from them to see what happens.

Because mw 3 is an uninspiring identikit sequel to 4 other games, and dark souls isn't?

Had no luck last night. Was defeated by the Hydra and Wolf Cif again. Change of scenery is called for tonight, think I'll go and kill Lava boy. At least he's close to a bonfire.

Fancy a weapon choice hint for the hydra?
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
something like the halberd with a 360 spin attack is brilliant for this. Get up close (but don't fall in) and every time he attacks he'll miss and you can 360 spin to hit at least one head before he leaves

Went back down to Ceaseless Discharge and killed him, eventually. Made my way down to the next bonfire then realised I shouldn't be here...

Back to Sens gaff :DD

I'm still cowering behind a dog gate in lower unread burg. After all this time, I'm probably not even going to find a boss behind it.

Ive been off work this week and put another 30 hours in

done Sens Fortress, Anor Londo, The Catacombs, now nearing the end of the Tomb of Giants.
Also opened up the lower parts of the Flooded Ruins.

such an epic game.
I have a +4 Lightening Spear, and I made the Queelag Fury Sword (now +2) and I have the DrakeSword +2.
I also did the Hollow and the Ash Lake. Pretty awesome stuff.

The Demon Ruins are horrid, and you cant progress til you have the Lord Vessel, so best to do that first.
I grinded thru 10 or so Taurus Demons and 7ish Capra Demons down there and found a locked door.

Ceaseless discharge was easy as I did the well documented spamming of him.

Well, I finally finished cowering and went through the fog door.

I died. Very Quickly. Not quite sure what that was, but it was very painful.

Went through the second time and beat it.

Now I have no idea where to go as that just led to a dead end.

Even taking into accont idle time this is looking like it will become my most played single player game of all time. I love it. So very very much.

Will be officially on the look out for a cheap ps3 now, as I must play Demon Souls too.

I* just beat the crap out of some big flying thing. This has lead me to another dead end. I've now explored every branch I've found (that I remember) that doesn't require either the master key or going through lots of ghosts.

On the plus side, this exploration got me a cool ring that increases my equip load considerably. On the minus side, I'm rather stuck.

* - A summoned NPC actually did it while I jumped around avoiding things

Thats my favourite ring. I try and keep myself below 25% for instaroll at all times.

(I may have just bought Demon Souls of Play.com as it has it for £12.99 new. Can't say no to that.)

I was looking around at the Bull Ring today to see if I could get Demons Souls on the cheap too. Twenty pounds was the cheapest I could find; I'm sure I could find it cheaper without ordering it. I quite fancy playing it again.

Mr Dave, you just done the Capra Demon (no idea what that flying thing was)? If so, he gives you the key to the sewers which can be found right of the dead end and keep following it around to the locked door on the right which you can now open.

It was? I was rather fearing that given the struggles some people had.

I think the flying thing may have been the moonlight butterfly judging by the moonlight butterfly soul I seem to have acquired without remembering picking it up.

Time to go and investigate the sewers then.

I think there was ember on the dead merchant which you can give to one of the alive ones and juice up your weapons.

Past the butterfly. That is.

Right, that does it, I'm turning this on for an hour.

Make that £11.99 new on play (or £30 for the special edition with art book and stuff) - I really doubt you can find it cheaper for that.

It shall stay squirreled away till a super cheap PS3 comes my way.

Aye, I now have a divine BattleAxe of hitting.
It's actually quite disappointing in comparisson to the Drake Sword.

Anyway, the gaping dragon has been made my bitch axe. I'm leaving it until tomorrow to head into blighttown

I think it's special two handed attack breaks it quite quickly, but aside from that it seems prett/y solid.

The only thing I've really noticed about it is its lack of attack power scaling, so I've looking for a replacement ASAP.

Awesome happenings have occurred. This game keeps giving. Literally. I've been mining the caracombs and picked up a funky skeleton wheel shield. It might not be too practical (what with it having large holes in it an' all) but the second button press sends it spinning around with a weeee!

I've found the casket that you can jump in so you can join the bosses covenant ( just before the titanite demon) which gives you a new spell for the pyromancers and some new blade.

Im wandering around with a load of humanity now and being invaded an awful lot by people a lot better at this than me. But ive gad some kick ass fights. Some guy even showed me how useful those grey ball things are as he stopped me from recharging. Then spit a load of his mucky poison all over me. Then threw poison darts at me to go toxic. In the end he just held me at bay while i slowly died of poison. Bloody swine.

Man this game is aces.

Got really stuck into Sens Fortress last night. I managed to get the covetous serpent ring (for item drops) but got took out by an archer/cross bow near the top and before I'd located a bonfire in there.

Decided to upgrade some weapons and ended up maxing out a Raw Halberd. This was used to dice up the Hydra :metul:

Tonight will be spent killing rats to get humanity before venturing back into Sens Fortress to get the bonfire lit and kindled.

I am moving very slowly through blighttown. Managed to reach a bonfire without dying, but I'm debating whether to light it considering all the enemies that I've painstakingly killed will reappear and bum me from behind.

I wish I wasn't human as then the choice would be easier.

Can't kindle it as I have no spare humanity. I'm still human from summoning solaire to help me with the gaping dragon (he was a complete bust and got himself killed. Fortunately, the gaping dragon was piss easy and it was a waste becoming human to get him)

Have you found the nice scarlet outfit and superb staff that is great for magic and melee in that area?

They're together up on the plunky bits rather than down in the poisonous shitty bits.

Sen's Fortress is climbed (and got to the sneaky bastard bonfire). Met the Iron Golum but had used up my best magic on my way to see him. Seems reasonably straight forward to kill from what I saw, so I'll be doing that tonight.

Weird how a new section feels so daunting at first and then you get to a point where you're practically cartwheeling through it after a while.

Also: I only just found the entrance to the Catacombs last night! How did I miss that bottom path along the graveyard?! Need a divine weapon before I get schlepping down there though.

I'm sure I read that a divine weapon permakills them. I haven't found this to be the case.

Me neither. WTB suggested it earlier in the thread but I don't think it's right at all. The skelebones will keep popping up in the catacombs until you kill the sorcerer nearby though. Once he's dead they'll stay down but revive when you camp out. Least the sorcerer doesn't come back.

That's a brilliant part by the way the first time you do a proper exploration of it: you're screaming past the skele's trying to find the sod that keeping them up.
