I think a "first song you ever bought" theme would be good.

So is the theme next week cover versions then or is it still to be decided?

Round 2 ends 8pm tomorrow, folks. Please get your round 3 songs in for the same deadline, the theme is 'cover versions'.

I'm dreading the punishment songs - The Smurfs and Pinky & Perky, most likely. :'(

I'd have spent more time picking a cover rather than the first thing I found on YouTube if I'd have known Craster was too busy buried nuts deep in a badger to run his own damn competition.

FFS. Do you not have a local Travelodge that you can book into for a few hours? Or drive around looking for an unprotected wi-fi network?

Jesus.

And here are your themes for week 4:

A Fruit

B "Crimes against Music.

You need to pick, and people will be voting for, the most appalling track you can possibly scrape from the bottom of the Music barrel. Songs can range from novelty acts to one hit wonders to ill advised duets, anything really.

Two restrictions arise:

1 - The song must have actually been released by a record label. You cannot therefore pick a song that Katie Brand sung on her TV show, or 3 minutes of noises.

2 - The primary language of the song must be english, to prevent everyone picking croation techno folk."

C 'Inappropriate'

D 'Angry'

E Your favourite track of the 80s

F songs about animals

Ah, the cover version round.

Johnny Cash - check!
Lemonheads - check!
Nirvana - check!
William Shatner - check!
Urge Overkill - no!

Dammit!

4/5 guesses before the songs went up though.

'Inappropriate'?

Corking suggestion; will certainly make me think.

Of course, if I find a very inappropriate song, then it would be appropriate for the group, and hence fail the criteria?

OH NOES! A PARADOX!

Forgive me assuming my usual position as the statutory grumpy old cunt, but what's the point of a whole set of songs that are deliberately as awful as possible?

Also, inappropriate for who/what/where/how? Inappropriate doesn't work without context.

Angry, fruit, and animals, I can sort of get along with.

I was starting to regret having too defined a topic, given all the others are one worders, but it has upset AE so I now know I'm on the right lines.

I just wish I'd had the common sense to suggest a round topic which I actually had a killer song in mind for

If people don't submit a song for the 'worst song ever' themed round, do you have to pick a really good song so it will lose?

If so, would you like someone else to pick it for you?

;)

Can you put what the next week's theme is either in the PMs or in the actual song wars forum? Had to come hunting through general discussion for this thread.

Says Mr "I'll wait until the last day and not submit a song until I get a reminder". Although, to be fair, that applies to most people.

Not a criticism at all, but I do find it confusing that one week is still running and I have to submit the next week before seeing the results of the last one, and then themes have already been picked for the week after.

I'll get it worked out the week after I'm eliminated.

Or a couple of days, but then it gets confusing because each week will start on a different day.

Either way, there should be a sticky in the Song Wars forum with all the themes and shizzle in it.
