Cheap fun game - Crackdown
Expensive good shooty game - CODBLOPS

Live = essential for playing online with awesome people (us lot), and it about 30 quid for a year.

Yeah Live Gold is a must for multiplayer.

Gears of War is great but really you should get Gears of War 2 as it still gets Bezzied up frequently.

As for other cheap must haves, Crackdown (must be £5 everywhere now), Mass Effect 1 & 2, Fallout 3 & Bayonetta :)

Forza 3 for racing, Dead Space for scary shooting, Shadow Complex (on Xbox Arcade) for platform shooting, Fallout 3 for exploring, Street Fighter 4 for fighting and Read Dead Redemption for horse riding.

Christ, and Burnout Paradise. It's probably worth getting "The Ultimate Box" version, as it comes with downloadable 'stuff'.

Omega 5 on Live Arcade is a superb shooter too, worth checking out.

Pinball FX 2 is fantastic too.

Geometry Wars 2 on XBLA before Omega 5. Although Omega 5 is ace, GW2 is still probably the best value thing on there.

I'd say just avoid 3 and go for Reach. Same shit, only more better-er, and people here play it online.

You will definitely want an online shooty game, although "we're all playing" black ops, I think you could pick up Modern Warefare 2 for cheap(ish) and I'm sure people would come and play that with you if we saw you online. I can also heartily recommend Fallout 3.

Obviously for this you will need gold. We're looking at going for the family sub at the moment as that works best for us, if there will be at least 3 of you playing online you'll be wanting the family sub, if not then go for them singly.

We have a lot of games, far to many to play! I've barely touched Dead Rising 2 or Dead Space. And we have multiple copies of things like fifa09 and MW2 so I'd be quite happy to lend you something while you get into it and decide what sort of games you like :-)

That goes for anyone btw, xbox and ps3!

For cheaps and offline

Half Life 2
F.E.A.R. 2 (Don't get 1 it's good but far too samey and 2 is better)
Bioshock 1 & 2
Batman Arkham Asylum (take about half an hour in the challenge rooms before playing the main game, you'll enjoy it more)

And some of the others mentioned above are good particularly Dead Space, Forza 3, Crackdown, Burnout Paradise.

For online if you get Gold

Forza 3, Halo: Reach, Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead, Burnout Paradise.

You'll definitely want to get Batman: Arkham Asylum. It is most awesome and pretty cheap now.

I can only second what other people have said... Geometry Wars 2 is ace, Halo Reach is ace, Gears of War 2 is ace and playing with bezzies is ace!

It's cheaper to buy Burnie P + Trivial Pursuit than it is to buy Burnie P, which might tell you something about Trivial Pursuit, but there you go.

Burnie Pee is a must Kov, if only for the excuse to have an en-masse 'intro to xbox live' sesh on it. I would recommend you fire it up a good hour before you're due to play it though, as updates fir it can be a pain.

Have you got a new Live ID, or are you still using the one you got for DOW?

*IF* you can find one near you then Burny P + Trivial Pursuit + an extra wireless controller are cheap at Argos

£21.99

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/store ... %3A1546795

This has been around a while so they are probably all gone but worth sticking your post code in to see if there is any stock around you (i remember Wullie picking one up when the offer came out)

Does Trivial Pursuit on the Xbox know when you've answered a question correctly?

That's my over-riding memory of TP on the Sinclair Speccy. It'd ask you questions but instead of giving you a textbox to type in to, or multiple choice, it'd just say "The answer was <whatever>, did you get it right?"

If you typed "Yes", it would move you on to the right space. If you typed "No", you'd stay where you are.

This just lead to people trying to distract their mates while they typed in "Yes" if they got an answer wrong.

Hello fellow X-Boxer! Welcome to our special club. Mr Dave will shortly be furnishing you with tea and cakes.

I believe you should sample the following:

The latest Halo - for Halo nights. "Best multiplayer since Quake" - Chinnyhill10
Burnout Paradise - Lots of fun and now very cheap
Forza - Now very cheap. Far better than GT on the Playstation Box
GTA - Worth a look if you can get it cheap. But the key word here is "cheap".

And via Xbox Download points:

Sensi - Do I need to explain?
Jetpac - Ditto!
Afterburner - Good honest arcade fun. Ensure you play with the old school soundtrack.

A Kinect version could use voice recognition.

Oh, but just you wait until you answer 'The 3rd Earl of Sandwich' and it registers 'The heard girl is bandwidth'

If you dont mind 2nd hand titles also go to a Blockbuster - they will have plenty of stuff in the '4 for £20' range or 2 for £20 / 2 for £30

And keep an eye on the bargins thread on here.

Cheers for that, I am happy to get pre-owned games :)
