The weather's actually fantastic here in the Waltonian Kingdoms. The sun's out, but it isn't so hot as to reduce me to a gasping, sweating, lightheaded mess, as it normally does. If it stays like this for 40 days, I'll be quite happy, as I was giving serious consideration to fucking off to Siberia and becoming an awesome hermit.

A rare day of rejoicing for everyone whose parents named them Swithin.

I just found out that today is St Swithin's Day. So, belated soggy greetings for it.

No rain in Oxford today. If it pisses it down in the next 40 days, we can all agree that it's nothing more than superstition.

What's St Swithin's day?

It's raining quite hard, or was, here in Hetfordshire.

The feast day of St Swithin, natch. :)

There's an old myth that if it rains on St Swithin's day, it'll rain non-stop for the next 40 days. I doubt there's much science behind it.

Chuffing hell, it's looking like there might actually be 40 days of rain. The wind has destroyed my birdbox, too. :(
