Been a long run, yeah. Any chance they'll turn around and ask you to stay on after tomorrow, or were you covering for maternity/sick leave?

The latter. Said that they'll call and ask for me back when there's more work to be done. They seemed very positive. I've pretty much cleared up about 3 years of backlogged stuffs, or so.

I spoke to the owner today, as he called up from(a business trip - Ed). I should have said "You should totally give me a job, dude, I can fly your jet" Then we could have talked about aeroplanes for abit. I think he was a bit lonely, as he started calling the CEO, then worked his way down through the IMs, until he got to my phone (IR).

Speaking of hairdressers, I chose my usual place initially because it is bang next-door to a nerd shop which has a full-size replica Imperial Dalek in its window display. It's nice for a service outlet to have a visual 'hook', in my opinion.

Speaking of Daleks, when coming out of work I encountered an enraged man in an electric wheelchair shouting xenophobic abuse at some passing foreign students ("Go back to your own country, you foreign gits").

Yeah, I love port. However, and a schoolboy error here on your part, I'd have accompanied it with 200g or so of fine stilton, and then had bizarre dreams.

legs give good accesibility on all terrain. I don't understand how a machine can be stupid. It has strong armour and good shields, the only way they destroyed it on Hoth was roping the legs. It withstood all the firing at it. What's wrong with a good viewpoint? You can see the whole battlefield and then get better accuracy with the weapons firing down.

If the empire weren't such bad tacticians, they'd have slightly smaller crafts (AT-STs) to protect the legs of the AT-ATs. They're basically tanks on legs.

And, as you've already pointed out, the only way the rebels blew them up was by using the old "ropes around the legs" trick, which has been used by everyone from Charlie Chaplin to Buck the Weasel.

Why were they walking towards the base anyway? Surely, if they knew where it was, some sort of bombardment from space or high atmosphere would've been more efficient. They weren't looking to take prisoners IIRC

Space Rodeo!

Which reminds me, I've been hesitating to post the video I made of team calf tying, where one horseman ties the front legs and the other the hind ones. It's impressive, but, um, not sure that some of my friends on sinister Facebook would appreciate it.

The design is inherently wrong, as the joints at the knee, ankle and hip of the AT-AT are clear weak points. They are also needlessly complicted. It's almost as stupid as putting the bridge on a star destroyer at the very top of a sticky outy bit, rather than in the heavily armored core of the ship, and use view screens rather than glass windows.
