I don't think fans really cool a room down (they may even make it very slightly warmer*), it's just that moving air draws heat away from your body. So unless your fan is by the window drawing in air from the outside you're better off leaving it off until you go in there.

*science needed.

Correct, two reasons: the first is that the air in the room stratifies, so warmer air accumulates at the top. The fan mixes it all up, causing the air at bed level to become warmer. Secondly, the fan contributes about 30W or so of waste electrical heat to the room. Which probably isn't noticeable, but still.

I haven't clicked, is that a link to Joans' thread?

We do have the window open, and the fan certainly cools the room down enough for me to sleep better, still wake up around 4am-ish too warm though (I don't leave it on over night). :(

On Saturday, the ruleset to the Awesome Drinking Game was revised. Much to MrsA's displeasure.

The basic rules are: player 1 names an actor. Play then proceeds around the circle with each participant naming a film they have been in. Play stops when an entrant fails to name a film, or incorrectly names a film. That person must then have a shot of Drambuie. As that is suitable punishment. First iteration ended with a Mrs Fantastic passed out on the floor, MrsA talking to the curtains as we'd run out of Drambuie so used Absinthe and myself and Mr Fantastic in an earnest discussion about transporting cattle across space. Since then, we've recused the rules to allow players to help one another, as it increases the risk of, for example losing the banker that is the knowledge that Nicole Kidman was in BMX Bandits with the payoff that the next player was relying on that. Other alterations are there are no sequels to the Matrix, 'We live in a post Phantom Menace world now' which reverses the order of play if, and only if, the actor was in Episodes 4,5, or 6 and any film that Sean Connery was in has to be shed if you shound like Kalmar.

Recommended fun, as you also learn of films you might not know about.

I have the fan running in my room prior to bedness. It is a 300W office fan, 300W!! FFS, if the air wasn't going past at 50mph it would be warm! Fortunately, I open the window and position the fan so that it is sucking in cool air from outside.

MrsA: I don't understand why women find George Clooney so attractive.

MaliA: <exhales briefly through nose, smiles as he turns his head down and away before looking back at MrsA from the corner of his eye>

MrsA: You've practiced that, haven't you?

MaliA: It's my go to.

I used to fancy Clooney rotten, as did my mum, our only bonding sessions when I was a teen was to sit and watch ER together. That was untill I saw Ocean's Thirteen, he had filmed Syriana/had a bike accident and this had made him lose a lot of weight and look older. I then realised that new older Clooney looked staggeringly like my dad and every male member of his family. I freaked the fuck out and haven't been able to watch anything with him in it ever again.

My dad looks like this, not kidding.

Decided to no longer follow Guido Fawkes on Twitter. His posts have lately been annoying me greatly. Yet to decide whether to remove his tittle-tattle site from my lists of feeds on Google Reader.

If you were to bench press Mr Dave, would you have to try and stop him from floating off?

I'm trying to persuade Ramsea to sell his car. And his bike.

Hmm, a £1200 125cc is easily as good as an £11K 1000cc bike, isn't it...? I don't see his problem, frankly.

Touché... :hat:

Bloody teachers, I wish they'd piss off. They keep wanting to have a walk around the school we're building, so I scowl at them. I don't think I can heap any more disdain upon them with my eyes.

Driving test soon, I'm not bothered from a 'handling the car and control' point of view but I always forget to look around properly when I'm reversing. I have no idea how to overcome it, I do(n't) it almost every time. What a :belm:

You know what I found out last night? That we spend £500/month more than we earn and over £1000/month on groceries.

The 2 maybe related.

Also: This may explain why I need to diet.

Also also: We have a credit card that will take us 12 years to repay and cost us £5500 in interest alone.

Heh. The things you discover when you're bored!
