Amusingly, the web filter at work won't let me look at the Wikipedia article for the Thirtieth Roman Legion, which I wanted to quote from. No idea why.

Possibly due to what thirty is in roman numerals?

The Magic Baby Jake thing on CBeebies is terrifying. Then again, I have a phobia of photographed faces/heads on animated (particularly undersized animated) bodies.

No - we only have Freeview, and get very few of those channels due to the location. Which is one of the reasons we have a huge DVD collection.

Your quote marked little boy and little girl sound sinister!

Went for an hour's walk before brekky this morning, accompanied by The Goon Show on't iPod. This should be the first of many such sojourns. I'm gonna get a bit fitter and lighter if it kills me.

The Goon show is so promising from the scripts, and so very, very awful to listen to.

Some are better than others. Many are very good indeed and I've got 117 episodes to work my way through. I should be as thin as Bluebottle by the time I've finished.

I have my Parrot A.R. Drone quadracopter.

It is surprisingly difficult to control.

I have already cut up my boss' flowers in the garden.

It should be very easy to control, quadcopters basically fly themselves, all you should need to do is tell it where to go. I suspect the weak link here is either the fact that the controller is an iPhone or it's you. ;)

It's the "telling it where to go" bit that's difficult.

I instinctively look at the copter rather than at the video feed to the screen. As a result, telling the copter to go forwards moves it in an unintended direction, as forwards for me means "away from me", whereas the copter is pointing towards me.

Also, I have now read in the manual that I need to set the "flat trim" option when it's landed so that it can stabilise itself.

Now all I need to do is work out how to strap my helmet camera to it to get some quality 1080p footage!

I have no idea why Aaronovitch has still not written for the new series of Who. He wrote Remembrance of the Daleks which Moffatt himself is a fan of (he did a write up on it for DWM), another story and was being mooted for script editor if the 1990 series had gone ahead.

Heh, I had no idea he had any links to Doctor Who, etc. thought he was some new, young writer!

That said, he's clearly been sitting on his current series for a while as he's releasing the third book in under a year soon!

No not at all. He was a new young writer in 1988 when he did his first Who story! I'd imagine he's now in his late 40's.

He brought back the Brigadier in Battlefield, then wanted to kill him off. Nicholas Courtney actually agreed to this but Aaronovitch changed his mind quite late on as he thought it would be like killing Santa and would overshadow everything else.

Some of the stories he and script editor Andrew Cartmel had planned for 1990 would have been amazing.

Talking of b3ta; do you know when you're on twitter and then you find out you live next store to the founder of b3ta and then he invites you round for tea.

Thats weird isn't it?
