don't you have to make a room or a tournament or something?

Mario Kart 8 includes customizable tournaments players can set up online using parameters for day, time, difficulty, allowed items, vehicles and more. Tournaments can be set to repeat — for example, competitions set every Sunday night — and are available to both friends and the general public, depending on the setting. Players will be able to search for tournaments by code, racing type and more. ""

I'm going to have a look now.

Post subject:  Re: The Mario Kart Club of cunning gentlemen

Looks straight forward. Host goes to Online (number of players), Friends and Rivals, Create Room.

Once done, the other players should be able to join the host from the same Friends and Rivals screen by clicking on their name, in theory.

Russell is there too, but he's dressed like me (I'm not too well, so he's playing without me, but didn't seem to have his own account)

Have fun x

There was one early doors where you were leading the whole way, until I red-shelled you on the last corner and you fell into a ravine.

Good times.

You know that bit earlier when I sad I wouldn't be bothering due to the utterly cackhanded way they handled voice chat? (Unless we all gathered on teamspeak or something)

Yeah, that.

Yeah, that.

It didn't even work in the lobby, unless no one else wanted to talk to me. You missed out on a fun night though - the racing did the talking!

I've never played on 150cc before, so it was fun, but difficult. I didn't mind coming last every time but one.

Lack of talking would've ruined it for me some. I just can't get on with multiplayer without the social angle.

 It would have been a nice bonus, but it was just great racing with people I know for a change.

Trousers, perhaps we can ease people in gently with some 50cc/100cc races early on next time.

I will see if we can make it. If we can, I will create my own Mii so that I'm not pretending to be Mimi in disguise. Would be ace to get voice chat working as well.

Recently online players are not friends. It's because we played a couple of weeks ago.

Apparently the Animal Crossing DLC due for release in May now has a firm date of 23rd April (which is not in May). Also available will be a (free) update that adds a 200cc option to Mariokart for the first time.
